Lately, a lot of my friends have been trying to force me into time travelling in New Leaf to make my town how I want it faster. This is slightly starting to annoy me. I really hate the idea of time travelling because I feel like it takes away the authenticity of the game. That's not what Animal Crossing's about. Animal Crossing is about growing up with your town, and watching it evolve around you day after day as you slowly start to bond with your townsfolk. Not skipping from the firework festival , to Toy day, back to Halloween in one day! You can't do that in real life, and Animal Crossing is suppose to be like a second life... jeez, I'm starting to sound like the Reseti of time travel. Heh, sorry about the rant everyone. If you time travel, I don't really care. It's just when people start trying to force me to do it. I just needed to vent off some steam with this thread, so thanks for taking your time to read it :)

I can understand it would be annoying that they try to force TT'ing on you. I'm a TT'er, but I wouldn't force anyone to or look down on them because they don't. The only thing I disagree with is this: "But I feel like they don't take the game seriously and just want to cheat to get what they want." Well, I'm not going to go into the whole thing about wether TT'ing is cheating or not because that is almost a sure fire way to start and argument.

However, I will say this: Just because they, or anyone for that matter, TT doesn't mean they don't take the game seriously (though is a game like AC even supposed to be taken seriously??). There's day by day TT'ing, where people usually stay within a week of the actual date and don't go months ahead to get items from events.

I TT and I definitely wouldn't call it cheating since I'm doing the same amount of work as everyone else without wasting my time waiting for things to get done. It hasn't ruined the game for me or anyone else but to each their own I guess.

I don't like time travelling. People can get super rare items and sell them for tons of bells really fast, which is unfair to people who don't do that. I don't care if people do it, but it's not the way the game was designed to be played.

Animal crossing is about having fun playing a game. Some people enjoy cycling, some enjoy just playing including time traveling and other are against it. Just let people play the way they want it.
If people force you into something you don't want to do just don't do it!
I do TT, sometimes to get a villager out, sometimes I just want to move on in the game, I don't see the problem. It's not a game where you have to compete against people, you play your town the way you like and that's about it.
And although I do TT I won't play the events out of season so I won't jump to juli to catch all the bugs, that way I get the best of both worlds

This is what I do :)

Then why time travel in the first place?

It's another way people play the game. My reason for TT'ing is because I get very bored quickly in one day. All I really have to do in one day is talk to my villagers, water flowers and a few other things. TT'ing has kept my interest in the game because I can continue doing things at my pace, not be forced to wait days and days which is something I don't want to do.

I understand it would really get annoying having your friends force TTing upon you. I personally do TT, but never to events to get 'rare' stuff (unless of course I miss the event on the day so time travel back).

Whether you TT or not, well it's personal choice. You may want to live each day as it comes, like in real life, and make the most of it. Or you might be one of those people that want to rush ahead in life to get things out of shops, get hybrids bred and whatnot. I guess, it all comes down to personal preference.

I can see why people time travel, but I feel like they don't take the game seriously and just want to cheat to get what they want. I don't agree with these. I TT and take the game seriously. I TTd ahead to get a few hybrids grown, and now my town is strewn with hybrids, and I wouldn't have them if I hadn't TTd. And, talking about whether TTing is cheating or not.. well there would be about 5 pages of argument. :p But not a lot of people TT more than a week at a time. They don't try to get items from events that are coming up.

I time travel to give people free villagers. Me and my friends do. To call it cheating and to look down on us for TTing is pretty offensive to me.

I TT, but it's only for public works completion and for villagers to move in. I would never TT to holidays or years in the future.

I don't TT. I never did, even back on my GCN. It's not how the game was designed. I respect the game design.

I appreciate how some others would do it, people that cycle their second town for example. It makes it easier for me not to time travel.

If people have fun doing it that way, they can do what they want. It's their game.

I personally find that TTing ruins the experience.

Back when New Leaf came out, some of you may remember the "Resetting/Time traveling War". Some of the forum was for resetting/Time Travel, some was very against, and some didn't care either way. Some of you may remember the threads about it. All I ask is that if you disagree with resetting or Time Travel, respectfully disagree.

I don't time travel days very often, only when I have a villager I'm giving away. Every once in a while I will travel an hour back or forward though because I really need to sell or missed the store hours ><.

I think my message came out wrong. I don't hate people who time travel, I hate people who try to force me to time travel. And yes, I take back the whole "Time Traveling is cheating" bit. That was a bit bold on my behalf.

I restarted my town recently and wanted to get back all of my stores etc on Main Street so I TT'ed to speed things up a little bit. I can see why some people don't want to do it though, if you do it too much I guess it can ruin the experience.

I can respect that. It's fine to vent and all, I just need everyone in this thread to respectfully disagree with each other.

I myself couldn't time travel every day. Maybe a day or two or a few hours but that's enough for me. I like taking the game slow. I don't even have a fully paid off house and I've had my game since June! However, if someone can time travel a lot and still enjoy the game, good for them. I want everyone to like the game and like how they play! :)

I'm going to travel to experience the count down for new year. Nothing wrong with that.

As a TT'er myself. I don't think its cheating. Personally, I only use TT'ing for the following: Hybrids for my town, its still not done yet! PWP's, and things for my town! I only really TT by hours or days. The only time I've ever tt'd like a year was when I was playing CF and I was like was like, what, 5-7 years old? The only item I needed for my town was the glow wands, so I kept tting to the event but it was only for my towns theme. I stopped when I found them in the store.

tl;dr I fully respect your opinion and would never try to force anyone to TT. Its how you play! The goal of the game is to have fun.
