Thoughts about the "New Camping"

Hello! Back in July when the ACNL update was announced, we already knew about a "New Camping", but nothing more. With today's Nintendo Direct we learned more info about it, and even saw footage of it. I wanted to share my thoughts about this new camping, because I think it's the most interesting part of the update, and I'd also like to know your thoughts about it.

This is confirmed: The update will come with 50 new Amiibo cards. These cards will feature new villagers that never appeared in New Leaf, but most of them are actually villagers who appeared in older games.

As you can see, these cards feature the new villagers driving minivans, and you can even see some furnitures coming from Happy Home Designer. So, I guess this means that scanning these cards will move these new villagers and their minivans in our brand new camping. After this, I guess you'll be able to buy their furnitures, or make them move into your town.

Here are some pictures of the camping:

From what we see here, the camping seems to be quite a large place, and at least two villagers can be in it at the same time. Now, I'm really wondering... Where is this camping? At first, I thought it would be separated from the town, and that you could access it by an entrance, somewhere in the Main Street. But then, I noticed two PWPs in the camping: the Log Bench and the Fire Pit! Wait... What does it mean? Is the camping part of the main town? This is weird.

I'd also like to mention one last thing... Since this is a brand new part of our town, there must be an NPC nearby... I think I found it! You can see it briefly while the screen is fading in during the trailer:

But... What is it? It looks like a dog to me, I have no idea why. A "hippie" dog. xD

What do you guys think about all of this? I'm curious to read your thoughts about this update, especially about the camping!

The first photo shows the "border" on the side so I'd assume it's part of a Main Street. Looks pretty cool and I love the hippie dog

I don't think it's a part of the main town, because the town wouldn't be large enough... Also, notice the slightly higher part on the right of your second picture - that's not something we have in our main town and it reminds me of Happy Home Designer. I'm curious where this part will be, since main street seems to be full already...
Another thought; how do the vans get to your town? There's only a train track leading there... Or will we maybe go to the van camp site by train? I like the idea it's hippie-based, by the way. Too bad they aren't Volkwagen vans, we have one ourselves. That would probably have been a problem with branding, however.

Maybe they'll have a cute "camper" set that you get by playing mini-games, similar to the regular campsite.

I like this so far, I like that older villagers are returning. Don't know where the camping would be though, maybe it's away from Main Strest like the HHA Showcase. It's a good idea and I'm glad villagers would be returning. I'm not a fan of amiibos though, and my location prevents me from buying any decent amount of cards, so I guess I'll be keeping my current villagers.

You can see Vanessa in those pictures, so here comes our long gone third snooty wolf! I hope Ketchup makes a return as well

That's another problem for me. The squirrel sisters and the 50 new amiibo cards are certainly interesting, but I love all my villagers and don't plan on replacing them. Unless the update lets us have more than 10 villagers, I won't be getting any new ones.

I would actually like it if a human character has his/her minivan to decorate. That would be nice. But then again, I doubt it would happen.

And yes, I saw the AC part in the last Nintendo direct.

I'm guessing this hippie dog is some kind of camp host and since he's a dog I'd say that there's a good chance he's related to Isabelle and Digby.Maybe he's their hippie dad or uncle?I included a link to the official Nintendo New Leaf site.

You can buy a little disk that's like an inch tall that works with regular 3DS'

Not exactly keeping track but I've seen the three in the OP (Vanessa, Hopkins and the bear) and I also saw an elephant named Ellie (seemed like a new normal) and a gorilla. I don't know if the squirrel villagers based on the Splatoon characters count towards the 50 villagers.

also do yall think youll still have to do the 16 villager cycle with the amiibo cards, or will you just be able to scan them right back in once they move out? i doubt it, but im really hoping if you have an accidental move out u can just scan their card and move them back in.

That would be practical, I doubt it tho.

I just hope they include Dobie and Tarou. I would love to have those two in my village. And the van thing looks cool and original. Great way to come back to this game.

To me hippie dude looks more like a turtle than a dog. When I looked at the pic, my first thought was he looked like Kapp'n a little bit.
