"This is really starting to tick me off!" -Slippy

From this morning until now, I've been on Animal Crossing trying to plot Cheif, a new villager of mine in the desired spot in my town, the problem?--He won't go there! For more than 8 hours, Cheif has been limboing around the same spot every single time. And the spot I want him to go I know is possible because a prevouise villager once lived on that spot, so what the heck is Cheif's problem with that spot???

I really hope if Nintendo are planning on making another Animal Crossing game, that they give us the Option to choose where each villager will live, instead of letting the stupid system decide. I own this town, why am I so powerless???

I know how you feel. Granted, I've never plot rest for that long, but it has wasted my time often enough. It's excruciating when the villager keeps trying to put their house down in the same spot, or one square to the left, right, top, or bottom of that one spot...and you want them on the other side of the map. x.x

Currently, I'm cycling 16 villagers to get Purrl back (because, darnit, she never pinged me)...and it's taking forever because though there are about 2 I'd be willing to let go and 1 I definitely want out, the same villagers keep pinging me (yesterday, Rosie and Skye kept alternating...until I finally was pinged by the one villager I wanted out. Today, it's Lolly and Katt).

It's like that...I'm the freak'n mayor! I should be able to tell villagers where they can move in/put their houses, and I should be able to order villagers out! The game feels more like a chore, and I'm used to JRPGs and MMOs where there are often one or two points where level/ability grinding is needed.

If SimCity could do residential zoning back in the 90's, or whenever the 3.5 floppy version of the game was out, then AC:NL should at least be able to do villager zoning on a freak'n 3ds! Not to mention other abilities which should come with being a mayor.

I shouldn't have laughed at this, but it sounds so funny. This happened to me a couple of days ago with Tammy. x)

I hope you get Chief in the spot you want! :)

Wow, while I do agree plot resetting can be frustrating, I'd not be too happy if the mayor in real life told me where to live and when to leave! Just like IRL, we can't always pick our neighbors or which location they choose...nope, not even the mayor.

I do plot reset, but some people actually prefer not too. I think if we had total control of the game, it would get boring real fast, and even lose some of its charm.

This happened with Frita. :( She never moved into that one place I wanted her in (they never seem to move into that spot I just don't know why) so I ended up placing her in an acceptable spot but I'm not really happy with it. You could try building pwps around your town to prevent them from moving into random places. Thats what I did and it it only took Tia a few hours of plot resetting til she finally moved into the right spot.

I feel you, it gets really frustrating.

What is this? Logic?

No. No, it doesn't work like that.

Being a mayor means you have total control over everything.

You decide where a villager moves.
You decide if a villager stays.
You decide if a villager leaves.
You decide if a villager can change their catchphrase.
You decide if a villager can change their clothes.
You decide if a villager can decorate their home.
You decide everything regarding the villager's life.

This is totally not a dictatorship or anything similar, you hear?

Lol! This please^^
In the next game, Nintendo should make it so that villagers will call us Dictator/Tyrant [name]

I definiteley think we should have more things we have control over as mayor, but not to the point of dictator ship.We should be able to have a public work project called a land plot, and be able to have 10-15.When a new villager moves in,they'll choose one of 'em.It's kind of like when you're browsing for a new home in a enclosed community.:P

*stares at Sholee's map* Darn you and your beautifully perfect map! *waves fist*

Anyways xD, I know the pain sort of. I don't like things too uniform so I'll let the villager choose an area. I don't dictate a specific spot they have to move to because honestly that would be too much for me. However, I do dictate what area they can move to and area they can't move to. With that in mind, I'll usually plot reset for 30 minutes if I'm lucky, 4 hours if I'm not. I remember Blanche as being very difficult, so I let her be in a place I wasn't 100% comfortable with. It was however at least around the area I wanted her to be in, so that was good enough for me. :)

While many valid points have been made, zoning is a real thing. Like commercial zoning/ vs residential. Maybe in the next game they could have those house posts in previous games, and the mayor has the choice where to place those. Who knows? :P
but yeah, plot resetting sucks and I end up giving in to a random spot after a half hour or so. Eventually if the place is good enough it grows on you and you forget about it and move on.

i agree with you ;u;

I understand the pain x_x
To be honest, I tried to plot reset for a villager, but then gave up after three tries...
//hides in corner//

This is why I'd recommend building temporary PWP so that villagers cannot move there

Omg, you have a lot of patience. :). I hope he finally landed where you want him to go. And i agree, next version, they should allow you as mayor to decide such things. They KNOW this game attracts us type A's, so why not allow us to do these things?

After about 3 more hours of reseting, I gave up and went with the closes spot I could get him. It kind of works, but I would much prefered if he would go to where I wanted him (Near the cliff, a prevouise villager was in that exact spot so I don't know what Chief's problem is) Funny thing happened the day after I finished reseting, I went to visit Chief and I found him sleeping while unboxing, I think he got so bored of me reseting that he fell asleep xP I can't blame him, I almost dozed off while reseting.

I like this idea, Nintendo please ;A; Make this a thing!

Exactly... I don't get it when people say that mayors in real life don't have that much control. In real life, towns do have zones you can't build houses on. You can just decide to plop down a house on a road, for example. Maybe this could be an optional feature you could switch on and off, but in the game you even have more control than a real mayor so this isn't such an unrealistic or unreasonable idea.
