Look where she let me put my fountain!

This isn't exact. I actually ended up moving it down a bit by Beardo's house...But I'm in shock...Cause of the tracks and the Re-Tail and the train station. I mean, there's so much stuff over there -- there's even a rock right in front of it! But she actually let me put the fountain there, and it's just...Perfect. Like, seriously, I still can't believe this just happened.

How did this happen?! Who is that impostor, and what has she done with Isabelle? I love how your retail is so close to the station, by the way :)

I think you just managed to get it far enough from retail and stuff so it worked, ugh I never have luck with my PWP placement though

You are a very lucky duck, I could only dream of Isabelle letting me place a fountain in such a perfect spot! Mine is in a slightly inconvenient location, but I suppose I still like it haha. I'll just demolish and pray Isabelle lets me put it in a better spot!

You know, looking at the placement, I wonder if that's a spot in particular that allows special placement. I have a PWP right around a very similar area at the top of my map, only instead of Retail next to it, there's the Town Hall, with the tracks behind and cobblestone to the left.

Still, it's strange.

Isabelle is clearly trying to sabotage you so she can take over as Mayor.

Omg it's so perfect :o my cycling town has the retail in that exact same place, if only my retail was there in my main town and I could put a fountain in such a perfect spot.. it's amazing woww

I don't have a retail there like you do, but I did place my police station there.

From what I observed, Isabelle will allow you to place the projects if there aren't anything in the way depending where you're standing - as in the placement point of the project dimensions will always start at the lower left. You should also account for the 1 tile buffer all around the building too.
For an example, when placing a 3x3 pwp, it'll be like this:
==========
# # # # #
# [ ] [ ] [ ]#
# [ ] [ ] [ ]#
# [x] [ ] [ ]#
# # # # #

= is the fence and # is the buffer zone. That [x] is where you stand when trying to place a project. That dimension box will move with you with the [x] being constant like that, and if things get in the way (such as exactly 1 tile away from the fence, pavement, etc), Isabelle will nag your ears off of needing more space or it's too close to something else.

Wow that's pretty cool! I have a face board in that area for guests to play with. Now I wonder if I could stick something giant there, like the round playground toy.

I was plot resetting one day, and I couldn't believe where they placed a plot.It was really cose to the bulliton board and train station.I should have taken a picture.:( I have three games and have been playing since release.I didn't think this kind of house placement was possible.I'm just glad I was plot resetting because I would have hated having a house in that spot.

I've not plot resetted - I've gambled & been lucky, up to now villagers have moved into workable slots.
I think I have one town still with 9 villagers, a bit nervous now as luck doesn't hold out forever.
Villagers have sometimes got into very tight spots I wouldn't have thought possible.

Where Isabelle allowed the fountain: this is why I always say at least try for the location you want - if she is saying no nudge her a little bit, or walk away so she follows and walk back in. I do this multiple times.

I'm fairly certain that it is where your character is standing that the yes/no is based on (I originally thought it was the spot Isabelle stood on) - just a tiny nudge can work - I managed to get a bridge into an area that was boxed in by two houses one side (one very close) & a house on the other side - I thought its going to be impossible but I tried anyway - doesn't cost anything to try apart from your time - and Isabelle said yes to me!
