The save restore thing is so dumb

I wonder if you could say you are selling it? Maybe that would be better than saying it was stolen?
That's an excellent idea, I'll tell them I'm selling it and then just sign out and make a new nintendo account/user
I don't mind having two completely different 'owned' switches
If they ask me about the IP address I just say I sold it to a roommate -shrug-

Seems perfectly reasonable to want to buy the new ACNH switch and sell my old one to my roommate so we can play together

The funny thing is they never did get a handle on the hacking. This whole thing about a game's data being locked to one system isn't going to battle it. Anyone who is going to hack/cheat will find a way to do it regardless. Sort of like how extremely strict laws in place don't affect anyone but law abiding citizens.

For the record I don't care if someone hacks/cheats so long as it isn't destructive to anyone else. Like those people now gifting items that can't be dropped out of a person's menu. They're uncool and get off to other's misfortune. And I am not saying a cheater/hacker is the same as a criminal. I just used it as an example. I only say that because I am pretty sure someone is going to take it the wrong way and derail the topic.

what a mess, i know they implemented it just for the lost & found case or in case of breaking but...... really nintendo?
guess my lite has to break before i can transfer it to regular switch pffft

I don't understand why they don't just do it the same way Splatoon 2 (and others, but specifically Splatoon 2 because it also doesn't feature cloud saves) allows you to do it...

...especially since it's a lot of the same team working on both games.
