True, but if L is your favorite character it's more depressing, especially before he died he heard church bells and told light he knew he was going to die, not only that but the last thing he saw was light looking at him smiling as he died.

From a non-biased point of view, Light's death was far more dramatic and sad. The only reason why you think it's the saddest thing ever is because of your fangirlism.
