The Pikmin Thread - Pikmin 4 already?!

In the light of the surprise announcement of the nearly complete Pikmin 4 development, I looked for a proper general Pikmin thread to no avail, which is why I decided to launch a new thread that covers every Pikmin game or material in existence.

The games in the Pikmin franchise have you assume the role of a captain that leads up to 100 Pikmins at once, the latter of which are used to collect items, attack wildlife and discover the lush environment. The very first Pikmin game released near the launch of GameCube came from a tech demo shown at SpaceWorld 2000 called Mario 128. Pikmin was also the second most recent fresh major IP made by Nintendo, as Splatoon came in late May 2015. That's nearly 14 years between those IPs!

I'm so excited for the new game! I hope there'll be new pikmin types but I also kinda want a longer story or some kind of online feature, when you have nobody to play bingo battle with you it kinda sucks;; (I'll still buy the game even if non of this happens lmao)

Spoiler: List of things I want

-MUCH longer and more difficult story than Pikmin 3. I think they made that easy on purpose since not many people played it before, so they wanted to have an easy introduction game, but after completing the first 2 games 100%, it was laughably easy
-GREEN PIKMIN
-4 captains, and possibly the return of Character D that was cut from Pikmim 3?
-Bringing back the White and Purple Pikmin into the story would be nice
-I'm guessing it'll be on the Wii U because most Nintendo systems are around for ~5 years, even if they don't sell well. Wii U has been around for almost 3, so it would be a long wait if it was for the NX. (That's why I really don't think anything currently announced is coming out on the NX)

For starters, who really cares about Pikmin. Nobody's asking for more Pikmin. The games don't even sell well. I would be surprised if Pikmin 3 has sold more than 600 or 650 000 copies worldwide.

At this point I'm thinking Miyamoto just stopped bothering with what people want and just does what he feels like doing.

Never played Pikmin before. I was gonna get Pikmin 3 but never got around to it. Depending what platform this game's on I may consider getting it once I see how it looks. If it's for 3DS tho I doubt I'll get it.

It's funny how they stop printing Pikmin 3 due to sales numbers and the stopping of the printing which inevitable leads to more lost sales. They released Pikmin 3 at a time when the Wii U was at it's slowest, but they're still not printing the game now that more system sellers have came out. I hate how Nintendo's solution is "just buy it off the eShop" despite the Wii U having an HDD that only holds up to 30GB.

After all this they just make a new Pikmin game. I understand the assets for Pikmin 4 are done since Pikmin 3 was already made, so there's no need to make a new engine which means a new Pikin game on the Wii U can be made with a low budget, but the way this company has been handling distribution of the series makes no sense.

Nintendo always markets newer IPs (excluding Splatoon) and third party games poorly and then when the game does numbers below their expectations due to the lack of marketing, they blame it on the consumers.

Um, Miyamoto doesn't work on Animal Crossing games nor does he say which games should be made over another so your logic is highly flawed Boccages.

Pikmin is niche but it does not mean it shouldn't be made. I want a Pikmin 4 as do many other people. Hopefully, the more Pikmin games come out, the better the sales will be like we saw with Fire Emblem. Awakening really skyrocketed that series' popularity.

-MORE PIKMIN TYPES PLEASE! With 3, they stopped naming Pikmin after their colour and I get why but I'd be fine if they were uncreative and introduced Green Pikmin.
-BRING BACK WHITE AND PURPLES. ESPECIALLY WHITES. Please retcon them into having an Onion. Also need purples since they were so OP in Pikmin 2.
-JUST BE MORE AWESOME. I don't have much I want except for more Pikmin.

Oh one more thing PLEASE BE FOR WII U AND NOT NX.

Ok first of all, a lot of people care about Pikmin. Just because YOU don't doesn't mean no one else does. Second of all, Stop complaining over Animal Crossing Wii U. I want it as well in fact it's the reason I bought a Wii U, but you don't see me whining and crying about it. Just accept that we might not get one and move on. Third of all, Miyamoto doesn't work on the Animal Crossing games so don't blame him. Miyamoto loves Pikmin to death. So do many other fans. He's making a 4th Pikmin game because HE AND MANY OTHERS LOVE PIKMIN. Why wouldn't he want to make a fourth game? Lastly, let me remind you that Pikmin 3 came out 9 YEARS after Pikmin 2. And you think waiting for Animal Crossing Wii U is bad!

A lot of people love Pikmin. Just because YOU want Animal Crossing U doesn't mean that Nintendo will stop whatever they are doing and make it for you. You can't always get what you want...

Yea, and I do hope that all the types are included, I was super bummed out that white and purple weren't relevant to Pikmin 3's story. (And hopefully they make an easier way to obtain them instead of having to play through the Subterranean Complex fourteen times!)
