the New Neighbor Network feels dead

Well you posted that thread at 9:29 PM and closed the thread at 9:43 PM. When you give people just 14 minutes to buy, I think it's kind of unsurprising you didn't get a response. Tbh between this and your best villager polls that you closed within an hour or so, you do seem a tad impatient.

goodness me, if the person only waited 14 minutes, then...that would entirely explain why they didn't get any takers/buyers for him. I thought only waiting an hour was impatient, but this is a whole different level of it. We can certainly confirm it's not that our villager market on belltree that was the issue then!

I also want to point out it depends how long you wait- if you wait like 15 minutes when it’s late at night you won’t get the same instant replies you would when NH came out

I’ve sold Julian on there, I’m in CST so I received a reply fairly quickly. I’ve also given Cherry away on one of my FB groups. I looked at the history on the NNN but didn’t feel she’d get much interest so went that route instead.

I agree some factors that might tie into it are amiibo cards and groups on other platforms. I personally would only go for “riskier” villagers on here as at least there is a feedback rating system I trust here.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but I think the reason why it’s not as active is because there have been some glitches when adopting villagers, so people haven’t been doing it as much

i feel like the main active part of that subforum is the “looking for” thread - that’s why i look there when i have a villager
moving just in case anyone’s looking for them ;;

Don't know when that took place but yes during waking hours for Europeans it's pretty dead at least. It's pretty clear that by far most of the people either have an awful sleeping schedule, or are from America... or both lmao

yeah i was gonna say it's probably also because there have been a ton of glitches regarding villager adoption really early on. i've seen SO many people across the forum say that because of all the glitches they're avoiding online completely.

but outside of that, we also live in an age now where there are SO many other ways to get villagers. facebook, twitter, reddit, discord, tumblr, nookazon, etc and with so many people playing this game it's reached a lot further than just the typical gaming communities. i have friends who have literally never played a video game who picked up a switch and animal crossing simply because they saw it posted and talked about so much. i think a lot of the more casual/newer players are much more likely to look for community through facebook groups and other more mainstream/instant gratification social media rather than a dedicated forum like this one where more longterm players might congregate. honestly as someone who has moderated and participated heavily in forums for basically my entire life, forums just aren't what they used to be as more and more people turn to facebook etc for a convenient answer to online communities and gathering with people over similar interests. it's sad for those of us who love the format, slower pace, and anonymity of a forum, but i think that's just the reality of the changing times.

But to be fair to you, I can understand that given the speed that things happen at on twitter, discord, and nookazon. I definitely know how annoying it can be to wait on someone for this game as it puts your plans on hold.

Sidenote, I don't comprehend how Nookazon calculates "average" price. I've seen some avg prices listed at 1mill bells and when I look at listings it's all "make an offer" or # nmt. It's pretty confusing to me.
oh, the reason marshal closed so early was bc i couldnt wait too long for other reasons.

as for the polls, they were extremely long so to do like 4 long polls just clogs up the acnh thread. i don't know how many times i have to explain that for people to get it. i have a life too.

before we go blaming me, please see this response! i mean in general. people here have issues reading ig. i have a life too.

i've noticed that too! empty raymond posts and part of me is wondering if they;re maybe dropping in popularity a bit? or maybe a good chunk of those people who really wanted them finally got them. idk. but i did have a very hard time finding some pretty common villagers lately so i thought that was weird too

I actually agree, I see a lot of villagers get voided all the time unless its a Raymond/Judy/Anhka auction thread. It’s pretty sad :( but I have gotten some of my villagers on this forum back when the game came out.

I noticed this myself. Sometimes I post and 9/10 I won't get a response until like hours later or not a response at all. I think nookazon kinda killed it imo

Definitely nookazon has something to do with it, so many villagers posts in the discord its crazy!

I don't know if I feel like it's dead yet but it's definitely slowed down a bit. We're a few months in now and I feel that many people have their dreamies now and a lot of people seem to really enjoy island hopping. I personally love the fun and randomness of island hopping but at the same time I prefer knowing that I'm guaranteed my dreamies. I'm already a stressed out person by nature (have anxiety) so I like to make things easier for myself to avoid additional stress and just get amiibo that I can afford. Sometimes I get villagers from other players to speed up the move in process but I usually just get the amiibo. That was a little off topic but essentially my opinion on it is: the game has been out for a few months and island hopping can be fun and even "addicting" for some, an alternative to getting villagers from other players.

The points that people made about time zones are also super valid and probably pay a big contribution to it.

I think those who've mentioned those not having an open slot are onto something! Like in NL as long as we didn't invite a 10th villager through whatever means, they'd go between 8-9 so there was always room - and iirc if the 10th villager moved out you could get back down to 8-9 (EDIT: or at least have longer before a 10th moved back in?)? May be wrong with that, but yeah I think a lot of us filled up all our plots not realising we couldn't undo that, and as many of us don't TT we can only get/give away a villager on a specific day!

But a massive thank you to the poster of this, you reminded me to check the forum on my first free plot day in ages, and I got Rosie thanks to that!!! A dreamie <3

I don't think they were trying to blame you. I think they were just trying to explain to you why exactly someone as popular as Marshal got voided. You started this thread because you wanted to know why the NNN seemed so dead, right? You definitely do have a life and absolutely have the right to choose to end a thread early, but there is a reason.

Edit: But also Nookazon and other places are really dominating right now. One of the reason why they're so popular is because there are so many users and you can search for a specific villager. Let's say I wanted to adopted say Bob here on Bell Tree. I'd first have to wait (however long) for someone to post that Bob is moving. Whereas instead, I can just go to Nookazon, search Bob, and immediately find someone who has him in boxes or soon to be anytime I want.

Certainly wasn't blaming you for anything, but you did start this thread seeming to have no idea why marshal had to be voided and suggested the neighbor network was dead. it is slowing down from the initial rush for sure, for various reasons me and other members have suggested. But when you only have a thread open for 14 minutes, that right there is why there were no takers. No one had time to come get him. You are allowed to end a thread whenever you'd like for any reason, was simply trying to clear up the matter that that was why he was voided, not because the trading boards are slowing down ^_^

the issue isnt really him being voided sm, just in general many good villagers get passed on and it kinda sucks bc they rock.

overall, the issue isn't necessarily marshal- its popular villagers in general that get voided so quick and its kinda poopy bc they're good

I tried selling Marshal and he got voided too :/
the same thing almost happened when I was selling Sherb
