350 btb for Merengue. I didn't know prices back then and I had a lot of bells to spend. I did, however lose her due to one of my hiatuses. But I didn't even like her that much.

Never paid for one, I managed to get mine for free.
I now have a cycle town too, and the most I ever sold one for was 200tbt, and that was because an original Marshal reached buyout in an auction. I tend to auction marshal if I ever get him because it makes more money then just selling him normally which would be 90tbt.

I've never participated in villager selling. The only time I ever lost a villager, I gave him away to another, in exchange for some perfect apples.
