I'm new to NL & this site (seasoned AC:CF player), and I just paid for my 1st villager - $2 million igb. I thought that was a lot, until I came here... I can't believe how much they can go for! Though, when starting out, $2 million *is* a lot!! But, it was for Cherry & she was well worth it... if only I could get Bam next!
when i first joined tbt t1's went for anywhere between 150-250, so i'm sure i spent that amount regularly while buying villagers. i can't believe how much tbt prices have dropped in less than year, it's actually pretty crazy
i can't even remember the last time i paid igb for a villager, but back when i only traded on tumblr i probably spent about 20mil at the most. thinking about it now, i don't think i've ever paid anything too outrageous.
Can't remember if I have ever paid IGB or forum Bells for a villager, as they are either free adoptions from other cyclers, gift adoptions from friends, or from my own cycling towns.
Cycling for your own favorite villagers is a lot of fun, kind of like...growing veggies in your own backyard?
10/10 would recommend! If possible, try get another 3DS and an extra copy of the game.
On topic-ish:
it might look quite horrific now, but there was a time popular villagers go for a usual range of 500-700 TBT,
or 30+ millions IGB easy.(heard they go for more prior to my join date)
The highest I've seen is Lolly going for 1000+ TBT in a bid war.
Most of my villagers aren't high tiers so I've never paid much for them, but I do believe I'd occasionally throw in 1-5m to convince someone. It's not money I ever missed though, it's easy to grind bells by just tting in a cycling town.
But I def remember cycling back in 2013-2014 and selling some high tier villagers for 15-40m.
I'm pretty sure it's not the most I've ever spent on a villager, but I paid 500k in-game bells for Rolf. That's the only villager transaction I can really remember. Rolf was also the first villager I ever got on these forums.
I have (had) quite a few villagers that are considered to be "popular", but I don't recall paying a lot for them. Whenever I was looking for a certain villager, I was very patient and would enter raffle after raffle or check the villager trading plaza quite often. I've gotten some very popular villagers for free by just being patient (and very, very lucky).
