The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords

So, if someone gave you a free pizza, but left out the crust, and it was terrible and you got sick, you'd still say it was great because it was free?
if not having crust makes or breaks a pizza for you, you've got issues. XFD

but i understand where you're coming from. i just wouldn't eat the pizza.

simple.
as.
that.

a good saying is "beggars can't be choosers"

The crust is the best part.

That's a terrible analogy and you know it. Four Swords isn't going to make you sick or harm you in any way because it doesn't have online. Hell, you might actually get some fun out of it! It is a video game, after all. They exist for your entertainment. And free ones are even better!

Games, food whatever you want to say, having them for free doesn't actually make them any better. It's wonderful that they are free, but for me it doesn't add anything for it.

When I said "free ones are even better", I meant that the fact that you're getting that entertainment for free is better than having to pay for it. Of course being free doesn't add to the game.

But, this game isn't fun by yourself.
I just beat the game and the extra levels by myself, and I have to disagree. It's not as fun as playing with other people, yeah, but it's still fun by yourself. It's a lot like Four Swords Adventures, except with only two Links.

four swords adventure really wasn't my cup of tea, honestly. four swords gba had one major advantage: not having to scroll through different panels (for lack of better term) similar to link to the past. all four people had to be there, at the same time. single player also bogged the game down considerably, the same way four swords gba alone is also bogged down.

but, it's a zelda game, which is synonymous with puzzle/action, so it's to be expected it won't go a mile a minute.

in relation to the "it's free but it'll make you sick," a better analogy would be stale pizza. it isn't necessarily good or fresh, but it's still free, and will fill your belly.

four swords 25th anniversary could have had some nice changes, but it's a free game to play if you're bored, and a decent one at that.

wifi, as with star fox 64, would have been a console-seller, IMO.

I don't see why you guys are hating on the game, just because it doesn't have online doesn't mean it's bad. Sure it'd be cool, but it doesn't so that's that.

I disagree. This game would have to be online for me to play it. Otherwise, it's just wasted space.

You won't even try the single player? Now that's not even giving the game a chance.

And I find it hard to believe that so many people claim to have absolutely no friends at all who have a 3DS or DSi. Seriously? I mean, yeah, it's definitely possible, but I wouldn't expect it unless you live in the middle of nowhere, or you just don't have many friends. I'm sure most of you have some friends with an original DS or DS Lite at least...right? If so, I'm sure some of those people will upgrade soon. The holidays are just a few months away. Lots of people will be getting 3DSes as gifts, especially with the price drop.

I dunno, that's just how I see things. I come from a little dinky town in Pennsylvania, but I had quite a few friends there who had DSes, and I didn't exactly have a ton of friends. Most of my friends didn't get a DS until the DS Lite came out, but they still got one eventually. The same should be true for the 3DS. Give it some time.

I did play singleplayer for about 6 minutes, and it didn't hold my attention. I gave it a chance, and it didn't live up to what I expected.

6 minutes? Did you even get past the tutorial?

The single player really isn't that drastically different from multiplayer, so if you really don't like it, chances are you still wouldn't like it if it had online anyway.

I'm with sock here, I played it for no time at all and didn't even bother to pass the tutorial because it bored me. I switched it off then came back to it today, it still bored me

Oh, that was a tutorial? ...lol

Still didn't like the way I had to control two Links.. :(

I have absolutely no friends here with a 3DS nor do they have any plans to get one. It's not Nintendo's "Next Big Handheld". Quite the contrary. It's a glorified DS with 3D and some other features (gyroscope, etc.) and that's what they see it as.

ALSO: On the subject of controlling the two Links, it's almost useless. The only reason why you would need two is for puzzles and to make some boss battles a tad bit more difficult. They both do not swing at the same time like in Adventures (which was 100x better, imo).

playing this game single player is like playing team fortress 2 with bots.

it's possible, and it may still be fun, but it's missing the point of the game. used to be you couldn't play it without at least two people. that's how the game was meant to be played.

Just like the DS was a glorified GBA with a touch screen. Yeah.

It's certainly not the best way to play the game, but it's really all they could have done to add single player to the game. If they made it work like in FSA, they'd have to completely change the game for single player mode. The puzzles, the bosses, the items...everything would have to be changed. At least the single player works, and if you get used to it, it's really not bad at all. I kinda like single player better in some ways actually, because you can go at your own pace instead of having to work with other people.

i'm just gonna point out why you're wrong right here.

comparing the DS to a GBA is a fool's errand. the obvious difference is the inclusion of a second screen. another large thing to note is the game media. the DS uses a slim card as opposed to a game pak.

on top of this, the DS had built-in wireless and wi-fi. the GBA did not.

what you want to say, is saying the game boy color/game boy advance is a glorified game boy pocket/game boy color. the game boy advance was an upgrade to the game boy color, moreso than the 3ds was an upgrade to the ds, but it was a large upgrade nonetheless.

the game boy color was an improvement to the game boy color, but it was still essentially a glorified game boy.

the 3ds added: gyro controls, a slightly larger screen, a 3d top screen, some improved software which allowed wireless communications to be better, an analog stick, and the improvements to the dsi.

everything else is virtually game boy pocket/game boy to game boy color. at most, game boy advance.

the 3ds is a glorified ds, though it does have a lot of improvements. it just doesn't have enough to warrant being considered an entirely new, fresh, innovative console. i has 3d, and it's improved under the hood. not saying other consoles don't do the same thing, just saying the 3ds is doing it, too.

Downloading this right now; I don't care if I'll play in singleplayer as 1) I love Legend of Zelda games and 2) I have no one else to co-op with.
