WARNING: RANT

I personally feel that gaming community is a bit corrupt. First off, do you notice that the minute a system gains market dominance, people automatically love it and want it? However, if the exact opposite happens, people spread gloom and doom all over the console and even the company themselves, especially if they have had similar results in the past, but the worst part is the fact that when this happens, gamers try find the simplest things they can complain about.

For example, the Wii U. On "the forum that shall not be named", because the Wii U isn't doing as well as the other two platforms, people there are simply saying stuff like "it should be their last home console", "they should go third party" or even stuff like "Sony or Microsoft should buy them" or "they should drop the console/gamepad". They are also complaining about stuff like "no modern account system" and "no online voice chat" or even the gamepad itself and calling it a gimmick. Not to mention that they will call anyone who says the they are doing fine or anything defensive a "deluded nintendo*insert rude noun here*"

However, I really feel that this is only being brought up because it isn't doing as well as the other two. I'm pretty sure that if it gain market dominance and or did better than at least either one of the consoles. This stuff wouldn't be brought up as much or even at all. You don't see many people saying this kind of stuff about 3DS.

Same thing goes for Sony PS Vita.

However, another thing I don't like is how gamers go into things with unrealistic expectations, blindly and sometimes just the wrong way.

*I'm not done yet, I'm just tired of typing, I will add more later*

Oh, and none of this is aimed towards any of you here. In fact, you guys illustrate the exact opposite of what I am refering to.

Gamers are the most self-entitled group of people I have ever seen.

Speaking of that, the people on "the forum that shall not be named" also complained about them not getting any compensation for the price drop of Wii U

This happens WAY too much. Pretty much, just go o my school and there's like a "secret Wii U community" that kinda started. If you're in it, you'll know who the other people are, no talking needed. If you don't have a Wii U, then you'll just say stuff like "I'd be caught dead playing that" or "The Gamepad is just an iPad." and not know anyone with a Wii U. But almost EVERYONE is welcoming if you have a 3DS. I just don't really know where they get these false arguments as well. A Gamepad doesn't look ANYTHING like an iPad and isn't in almost ANY WAY an iPad. If that's your argument, then books and computers are EXACTLY the same because they have words on them. I've also already heard quite a few PS4 versus XB1 arguments. Some include "The XB1 is better because you can have 4 bluetooths on at once and the PS4 can only have 1 on!" So you're going to spend 100 dollars more just because you want to use 3 more bluetooths at once? Also the PS4 is the "actual" cheapest system because it has all of this internet stuff that the Wii U doesn't have and if you want it, you'll have to pay a lot for I, blah blah blah. So the argument there is get the PS4 because it has all of this internet stuff you might not even want, use, or already have? Anyways, I agree with you 99.999999986759566485758% (Not 100 because the Wii U does have voice chat, but in the form of video chat. So no vice chat during games, but it has it anyways.)

Also "the XB1 is the best because of TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Even though you need a TV to use it, so you can just use the TV instead of paying 100 dollars more, so you... this is just so confusing.

(Another post merge) what is "the forum that shall not be named?" Does it start with a G?

Well, in all honesty. Nintendo's Home Consoles have kinda lost their popularity with most gamers. I think the last widely popular Nintendo Home Console was the Gamecube, which in my opinion was when Nintendo Consoles were the best. I also think that Nintendo does WAY better now as a Portable Console company (3DS, DS, GameBoy, etc) as it does a Home Consoles. Now I'm not saying that Nintendo should stop making Home Consoles, but as it stands now, Nintendo isn't even a worry to the Sony & Microsoft Home Consoles.

I do agree that if the Wii U did a lot better or held it's own against the PS3/PS4 360/One that people wouldn't be saying things like that, but the thing is, is that the Wii U isn't doing better or holding it's own. Which is exactly why people are saying stuff like that. The reason why people don't **** on the 3DS is because it dominates handheld gaming. Over the years how many people have you seen with a GameBoy/DS/3DS as compared to a PSP/Vita? I'm pretty sure you'd see a **** ton of more people with Nintendo Handhelds than you would with any other handheld gaming device. As I said above, Nintendo dominates the world as a Handheld Company, but not so much as a Home console company

The Wii was Nintendo's biggest selling console, and also had the biggest selling game ever. So the Wii did amazing, but the Wii U, not so much.

I think of this phenomenon as something similar to when a hardcore sports fan regularly switches the teams they root for depending on who's winning or losing. They love the game, but they also enjoy the righteous feeling of being on the 'correct' side with a clear enemy to fight.

And it's so easy to get worked up about gaming-- practically the whole hobby is about sucking you in emotionally or hyping up your competitiveness or both. We're naturally gonna get a lot of very vocal, very crazy people.

You did in the beginning, when it wasn't doing so well. Then when it started to pick up everyone changed their opinions.

Yeah exactly. The 3DS had just as a rough start as the Wii U did.

If it wasn't for Nintendo pushing out actual, good games for the 3DS it would have flopped too.

That is one of the main problems I was trying to convey. However, it seems that you guys already understand what I am talking about. Also, I knew that already, I just didn't bother mentioning it.
