Info

It’s pointless to deny the fact that Electronic Music and most subgenres has been getting big these past couple years. ( Luckily for me, I have been a huge advocate of this genre for many years now. )

I decided to make this thread for those who enjoy any form of Electronic Music to discuss any new releases, their production habits, favorite artists, etc.

EDM - Electronic Dance Music
IDM - Intelligent Dance Music (subgenre)
BPM - Beats per Minute (music production term)

*more to be added if needed

Rules

- Like all other forms of music, EDM is not for everyone. It is to be understood to nowhere in this thread post a derogatory comment about anyone’s taste. However it's ok to say why you don’t like a certain genre / why you prefer a certain genre over others.

- Keep posting just singular songs to a minimum, use the already designated "Expand your music taste" thread for that. Instead, tell us about your favorite DJs and maybe post a song or two and why you like them idk. I promised to keep this thread original lol

- If someone should post a song that they created for input (which idk if anyone will), don't go bashing it.

- Forum Rules apply.

Monstercat's 5 year anniversary
7-12-2016
yo July 2016 marks the 5 year anniversary of Monstercat record label which is pretty big news (I didn't realize they're so young)

to commemorate, a new album filled with exclusives and VIP records will be released on the 15th of July. (Pretty sure that is like this Friday.)

As a bonus: if you sign up for the website I will link below (Just put your name and email), you will be emailed a free copy of the Monstercat 5 Year Anniversary Compilation. I see no point in not doing it tbh.

in the mean time, here is the latest monstercat podcast episode. I recommend putting it on while you go about your day, monstercat vibes all the way
(also includes the first looks at some of the new songs like Blackout by Pegboard nerds etc.)

Kesha's Comeback Performance at Coachella 2016 alongside Zedd
4-17-2016
I'm not sure how many users here have been following the recent 2014 - 2016 Kesha lawsuit, but for those who don't know:

In short, Kesha's signed with Sony Music Records, where her music was being produced. A Lawsuit was filed by Kesha against Dr. Luke (Sony Records employee) for rape and physical and emotional abuse. When brought to court, the Judge was not in favor of Kesha's claim and she was not allowed to leave her contract. In fact, Dr. Luke denied it all and countersued.
Kesha hasn't been making music for this reason.

However, yesterday at Coachella, DJ Zedd (supporter of Kesha) introduced her as a surprise guest in his performance opening weekend.

Song choice and delivery by Kesha was truly inspiring and iconic.

Kesha continues to reach out and thank her fans for their support. #FreeKesha!
Feel free to discuss!

- Do you like EDM? What Genres?
- Who are your favorite DJs or songs?

New to EDM?

First of all, welcome to your new life style. A lot of EDM fans are just trying to put some sunshine in their life and turn to the phatest beats around as their outlet. Where do you start?
Well, you should probably start by finding a genre or Artist who you really like.

Dubstep
Dance
Trap
Jersey Club
House
Neon Progressive, Chill, Trill, Trance, the likes
Vaporwave

Dubstep- Skrillex, Flux Pavilion, Adventure Club
Dance - David Guetta, AfroJack
Trap - Massappeals, Baauer
Jersey Club - Trippy Turtle, Cyber Thug
House- Deadmau5, Benny Benassi
Chill - Lindsay Lowend, Yung Fug

My dad's an electric/industrial/experimental musician, been doing it since he was a teenager. His band's name is Dyskhord, He hasn't come out with a new album in awhile though. http://dyskhord.bandcamp.com/ there's his bandcamp

Ashton and I have both dabbled in EDM, him so more than me. I'm not super into the genre, however there is one song I really enjoy.

Love this thread. I'm a musician, and though I mostly like to produce classical music, I have to produce it electronically. I'm actually working on an album right now, and I'm planning to make it pretty electronic. Synthesizers mixed with overlapping pianos and stuff. I'm also a visual artist, so producing videos and promotional photographs will be a snap!

I'm pretty much finished deciding on my tools. It's just the actual work I need to get done now. I only have two tracks finished at the moment. I use a lot of different tools, but for the most part, I just use professional audio recorders and mixing software.
