that ONE item you just can't get no matter what.....

I've been on a hunt for the mermaid set for days now, got all the pieces except for the Mermaid Sofa and for some reason this item just won't appear on the island no matter what, I believe I already spent more 100k going back and forth to the island and no luck, I also time traveled a lot~

the funny thing is, while I was looking for it I found (and bought) other rare items like the silver axe, toy hammer, pink wet suit, whirlpool bath +
and each one of the mermaid and cabana set pieces appeared at least twice....but not that damn Mermaid Sofa~
I'm going to keep on trying but I'm losing hope...and money, lol

anyone else had a similar experience where they just almost lost hope or went broke trying to find/get that one certain item? :/

for some reason the cabana set appears more frequently than the mermaid set but some items only appeared once like the cabana chair and vanity

lol when I was searching for the sofa I came across the bottled ship (expensive) and the whirlpool bath twice XD
but yeah the cabana wall and floor didn't appear much I guess...
other more rare items like the pink and wet suits, silver axe and toy hammer only appeared once, and I believe I time traveled over a 100 times XD
and I saw the red wet suit twice (is it supposed to be rare?) but I haven't seen the orange one yet.... :/

Early in the game it was the cabana flooring/wall and the Tropical Vista Wall/Floor.
About a month ago I needed 8 mermaid screens and couldn't find one. It took a lot of island hopping and I've extra towns.
So happy when I found it on my own island. Now I see them all the time.

I would TT but I don't want to lose any dreamies! I found one about a couple weeks ago and yelled too! After a while, it seems like they will never show up lol

The sandcastle from the island. I really don't like to island hop because I'm afraid I'll end up having to talk to someone lol. I'm too shy to initiate conversation there and I just want to look for items so I try to just check quickly and leave, but I have yet to see the sandcastle. I guess it's very elusive. =\
