Last month I flew with United Airlines from the United States to Costa Rica and it was a terrible experience. Here's what happened:
I flew with them from Jackson, Mississippi, to San Jos?, Costa Rica via Houston and back. Well, here's what happened:
On June 17, our flight from Jackson to Houston was cancelled due to the tropical storm that had hit Houston. So, then, due to limited seating on the flights, we couldn't leave until two days later, and then, while were able to make it to Houston, our flight from Houston to San Jos? was delayed by three hours (we were supposed to leave at 9 p.m., but we didn't board until midnight) and then the flight attendant announced over the intercom that the flight was cancelled because the pilot, who was supposed to be coming in from Orlando, had flown too many hours. It turned out there was no pilot on the plane. So, they kicked us all off the plane and sent us to customer service, and the line was long as there was one other flight that was cancelled (going to Buenos Aires) and they treated them as more important than us. We were stuck in the airport until 4 a.m. when they managed to let us stay at the Hyatt but I wasn't able to go to sleep due to traffic until 6 a.m. and I had to wake up two hours later to go back to the airport. Then, when we finally got to San Jos?, they lost our bags.
What did you think of that story, and post your horrible experiences here.

I flew to Hong Kong whilst there was a typhoon and the turbulence was so scary and I spewed out the rubber like omelette they fed me

i've never had a very bad flying experience. I guess there was one meal that they served us, and it tasted like plastic. everyone else was eating it like it was ok but me and my sis never took another bite.

I haven't had many "terrible" experiences, but just the typical ones. Airports suck, people on planes are annoying, and all that stuff.

The worst I dealt with was a 9 hour flight from Amsterdam to Houston. I was asleep most of the flight, but those airplane seats are so uncomfortable after like an hour. 9 hours is just way too long to be on a plane, but the trip was well worth it.

Once I was flying from Orlando and we were supposed to have a layover in Houston. We always pick the layover spot there. So as we were waiting for our plane we noticed that there was almost no one at the gate. My mother went and asked someone what was happening. There was a horrible storm in Houston so instead of going there they sent us to New Jersey (oh by the way, we were trying to go to Kansas City, Missouri. So if you dont know how far apart they are. Going from Orlando to New Jersey is just passing Kansas City...). Once we got to New Jersey (finally), our gate was in another building and we had to get on a random bus to our next gate. We got there and we had an hour or two as a layover, that isnt that bad. Once we were going to board to go to KCI Airport (Kansas City's) they kept pushing our flight back, they must have done it 5-8 times. Our flight from NJ to KC was supposed to board around 6. We didnt end up boarding until 10:30pm. And to make things even worse we were on an Express flight in the dark and my mother and I were in the emergency exit seats and it was only our second time flying. I was literally crying, it scared us so much. That day we were supposed to get home by 2pm but ended up getting home at 12am. Worst experience of my life.

I've never been on a plane long enough to need one. The longest flight I've ever been on was like four or five hours long. Never flown on Air Canada either. The only major airlines I've flown with have been, as I said, United, along with Delta.

Not me, but once a flight my brother was on had to turn around halfway through because a passenger had a heart attack

i was on a plane from california to washington state. while we were passing through oregon, we ended up in the middle of a thunderstorm at 11 pm. for at least half an hour the plane would shake out of nowhere constantly, and i seemed to be the only person who freaked out. everyone around me looked calm af lol

I've only ever been on a plane twice in my life and both were good experiences as far as I remember, as they were quite some time ago, I remember though my mom's boyfriend being really peeved because we had to wait for another flight to get in because our bags were on the next flight I guess, so we had to wait a few hours but there were nice stores and stuff at the airport so it wasn't a big deal for the rest of us, he was just a butt hole that could never be happy so he was just super negative the whole time, but I think it was like when we went to Disneyland too which he insisted on flying too even though we live in NorCal and it wouldn't have been too long of a drive...

On my way back from a vacation a few years ago, my family and I were waiting for our flight from Pensacola to Atlanta when we found out it was delayed. It wasn't a big deal, except that they delayed it again, and again, and again, so we ended up being an hour and a half late getting into our next destination. Our layover in Atlanta was supposed to be two hours, so when we landed, we only had 30 minutes of layover time to get to nearly the opposite end of the airport (keep in mind that this airport is pretty gigantic and its concourses are separated). So, it turns out we were so late that our seats were already occupied and the plane was ready to depart from the airport! We ended up having to try to catch different flights back to PA back and forth for nearly 6 hours, until we got one for 11 PM. I finally got back home after midnight when we were supposed to sometime during the evening...absolutely awful.

STORY #1

Got up at 4AM for a flight to NYC. When I say, "got up", I mean that I didn't sleep the night before in anticipation of sleeping on the however-many-hour flight. Not really too tired at this point, but then, something happens when I'm getting my ticket.

"Your flight has been canceled. We're gonna put you on a flight to LA, then to New York. At 10. In six hours."

So, I had hot chocolate at a breakfast place, then fell asleep on a bench, which I fell off of; didn't care. The PDX carpet that everyone loves so much and I got pretty intimate for a few minutes before I realized what I could be laying on and I got up and bought a copy of Watchmen from Powell's.

Then, all the plane had to eat was Horse Radish sandwiches. It was a five hour flight. Sacrifices were made. But, there isn't enough baby-sized Sprites in the world to save you from the power that horse radishes deliver. Ick.

On the plus side: on every flight to and from New York (this included more stops in Denver and LA), there was never anyone in the middle seat, so I got some room.

STORY #2

This one is much shorter, and a lot less interesting. On a flight to Las Vegas at about 9PM, the only place to eat on the other side of the gate, that was also open, was Starbucks. In PDX. Like, why? Anyways, I was mad hungry, yo. I had to make a sandwich decision fast, and the barista was throwin' some mad shade because they were supposed to have closed five minutes ago.

Made a quick grab, and waited to board the plane. Once I got on the plane, I took a big bite of my sandwich, and realized the the mustard on said sandwich was (excuse my french) disgusting. This flight was only an hour and a half, but I was HUNGRY AS F.

I didn't eat until after I checked into my hotel, which was at like, midnight. Thankfully everything in Vegas is open forever.

i bite my nails so i cant judge but please dont clip your toenails on the plane. yes. your /toe/nails. fingernails are another thing, but god why did you have to do that
