Tell me about Club Tortimer

Most of my experience with Ct has been either positive and neutral too. I've read lot of stories about scams on CT and prepared myself for it-- if I want to be alone on the Island to hunt for beetles/sharks, I start a tour so that no one can come to the Island while I'm hunting, and if I found that someone is already on the Island, I announce that I'm going on a tour (so they don't think I'm trapping them on the Island) so when I come back, I'll be the only one on the Island. When I'm looking for people to play with, I'd say hi and wait to see if they start a conversation. If they do, I do some small talk then ask if they want to go on tour with me.

I've only had a few bad experiences, and only once did someone try to trap me. There was a japanese player who called me and another player there with a rude slang, I blocked him and quickly left the Island. There was also a kid who begged for bells after I've gone on a tour with him, I lectured him a little before leaving but he said sorry at least.

I've met a lot of nice people there though! A few kids who just wanted someone to talk to and play with, some players who gave me free items for being nice, and-- while not positive --a lot of players who keep trying the glitch thing...? It's not too bad, really. As long as you know how to avoid and deal with the bad experiences, playing on CT and meeting other players is pretty fun for me c:

Fantastic responses, all of you (: sounds to me like bad experiences are more the exception than the rule, and even then they are mostly avoidable? I'll definitely try it out then (:

Thank you all <3

I have gone to CT about two dozen times already and only had one person beg me for my crown. Usually I go and check out what's on sale and if someone is there we've sometimes done a few tours and had fun.

So far I have only had good experiences. The one person who begged me for my crown - now I sort of wish I had just given it to them, but again, maybe that person is a habitual beggar. I don't know. Overall I've been lucky but when I do go I always get ready to flick the WiFi just in case.

I think you'll be fine! I do think the bad experiences are, as you said, the exception rather than the rule.

hOW HAVE U GUYS ALL BEEN SO LUCKY

Most of my experiences were terrible! Well not most. Like 60%ish?
Anyways, most of em are about some brats begging for my cake hat. One even told me she would cry if I didn't give it to her. Being the stone cold hearted ***** that I am, I told her "Go for it." So she just kept using the crying emote thing over and over again. I started laughing. I wasn't sure if she was being serious or not.

Then there was fishing/bug catching. Most of the time it can be okay. The other players will mind their own business when catching bugs and fishing.

That one jerk that scares off the fish, and takes all the beetles when ur about to get em.

All in all ct can be pretty fun. I love telling my friends about the terrible experiences I have.

Wow, I'm so sorry, mitzeflx! That really stinks.

I guess we got lucky. I'm so glad because I'm prone to panic anyway, so even going to CT at all is scary for me.

If I ever run into a real troll I don't know if I'd ever have the nerve to go back.

And I know it's not funny, but I did chuckle when I read about the jerk scaring the fish. I guess some people are just so childish when they can hide behind internet anonymity.

Bad experiences which recently especially has been rare include stupid kids digging holes all over the island, kids chopping down all the trees just 'cos, being pressured by twelve year olds to "marry them" who then turn their wifi off when you say no, and of course the beggars who seem to think you owe them something.

LOL, that's so crazy.

well, mostly I had good experiences. One day, however, I wanted to catch some bugs at the island and there was no one at the island. Everything was ok until somebody came wearing a ghost costume and said that if I didnt give her 10k bells, she would hack my town. when I asked why, she said that she was very poor and recently started the game. I was about to give her the money and troll her by turning the wifi switch off, when she said she was actually an island fairy that seeks people that are humble or something and she gave me 500k! That sure was a weird one...

It's fine. You will meet a lot of active friends on there! If you see a weird person, wifi them. Beware of people who wifi you!

EDIT: Oh yeah. Watch out for the person that is Majora and "hates" Link. I was like WTF?! Then flipped the switch. \(o.0)/

I've had people Wifi boot me out because my mayor (a boy) was/is wearing a dress and I refused to change because he looked rlly rlly adorable. I had someone once boot me because I caught a Whale Shark, a Saw Shark, and a Shark all in one fishing trip. I've had people boot me because I wouldn't give them Bells...It's really better to just invite your friends to your village (or you to theirs) and go to the island with them, if you're looking to play with other people.

I've never had a bad trolling experience. (Probably because of timezones) but everytime I go, it's either a non-English speaker or they're just not fun. The worst I've had is someone who always ran to the bug I was going to catch so it'd fly away.

I just wanted to give advice to people who've had horrifying times at CT! I had a horrifying time like most, wifi switch flips, beggers..so on. But I still go to Club Tortimer all the time! I make it so that I have a private island and no one can join me. This is how. For those that would just like to know now:

  1. Go to Club Tortimer. If someone is on the island, talk to Leilani and go on a tour by yourself. When you return, the island should have no one on it. If the island already has no one on it when you arrive, you don't need to go on a tour.
  2. Go talk to Leilani again (quickly, before someone else arrives). Ask to go on a tour again, but don't sit down! As long as you've initiated a tour and the ship hasn't departed, no one else can come to your island.
  3. Chop down as many trees as you want for ideal beetle catching! The island is deleted after you leave, so it doesn't matter.

With this I always insure that I have my own private island, troll free and I don't need to wreck my own island! I have been at these islands for hours with no interference!
