Do any of you get those mini heart attacks when a tarantula, scorpion or bees attack u and you don't have your net so you have to run around your whole town till u find a building you can go into? I do ;) but I don't get it, are the tarantulas in this game poisonous or something? Why do u faint if u don't catch or get away from it?

Actually, regarding the tarantula and scorpion, you don't have to worry about them biting/stinging you if you don't have your net. :) The way they're programmed is that, if they spot you, and you're not holding a net, they will automatically run away. They only come toward you if they spot you holding a net, and you're not in the sneaking position.

One time, I walked out of Re-Tail and there was a tarantula right there. It saw me and immediately ran into the pond... And at the same time I pulled my net out. I didn't get into the sneaking position, and it didn't actually land in the water yet, so when my net was pulled out, it immediately ran out of the pond and bit me! DX So yeah, they will run away if you don't have your net out.

But bees... Yeah with bees you're screwed if you don't have your net, LOL!

Really? :0 but I'm pretty sure once I didn't have my net and a tarantula stung me?

That's interesting... Maybe it depends on how close you are to them? Like, if you get too close, they'll bite you regardless, but if they spot you from a distance they'll run away?

Hmmm, maybe. Still haven't caught one cuz I get bitten every time or don't have my net, so I'll test it out :)

I managed to catch two pretty easily just by taking out my net when I spot them and press and hold A to go into sneaking mode.
During the sneaking mode, I move reaaaaaaaaally slowly, so just a light touch on the circle pad and move towards a position that you will catch it with your net.
Just like catching the Golden Stag on the Island.

Yup, this!

You pull out your net and immediately sneak... It usually spots you, but if you're in sneaking mode, it will just sit there and hiss and not actually touch you. Just be careful because if you miss your swing it WILL attack.

I actually first got this game in summer 2013, I didn't figure out how to catch them for a year. XD I found out the trick by accident. It's difficult.

:0 I never knew about the sneaking trick, whenever I see one I either run like the wind or jump and attack....then die ;)

Don't run! Tarantulas and scorpions both attack if you run. If you just walk away or stay still until they spot you they'll run away and disappear.

I never realized that sneaking would work on them! I'll have to try that. I've had the game for 2 years and still haven't been able to catch a tarantula or scorpion.

Omg same! Now that I know how to catch those pesky little insects I can't find them anywhere, but before, everywhere I turned there was a tarantula or a scorpion :/

I actively try to catch tarantulas, but either I'm too careful and they run away (sometimes the tarantula just disappears) or I'm too obvious and don't time well enough so I get bitten.

With bees you can actually run away from them for hours and still avoid them. They have trouble turning corners, so just run in sort of a zig-zag formation and you'll be able to get away.

As for the scorpion or tarantulas, if 1s chasing you then ur fkd lol

Right? I haven't seen a single one for a couple of days. :\ I wish the spawn rates where just a smidge higher.

You can out run a scorpion. In my guest town I was in the perfect catch spot and went used the net. While the net went down the scorpion moved to the left. So I ran to the cliff and forgot I didn't have a wetsuit on. So I ran up to city hall and opened the door.
It sat outside at the doorway. Another time I near the ramp and made it. Poor Sally had a horrible time getting her tarantula and scorpion.
So far I've caught 9 tarantula and 6 scorpions this year. Just need 2 more scorpions for my main town players.

To catch them I go around with a fishing rod or a watering can. The only tool in my pocket is the net. Switch to the net when it's not close. If it's too close it can jump and take you out. I usually freeze as soon as I take the net out because they usually come towards me. Wait for them to calm down and than stalk them. If they are going towards the water or cliff walk back a little. Sometime you can get luck and they'll stop and come toward you.

Find that strolling around town and doing chores for the villagers helps. One was waiting for me after I deliver a present to a villager. Another walked by me while I was fishing. Caught the expensive fish and than the tarantula. Walking too fast will makes them move around a lot.

Find your spawning spot and look for them. If it's full of flowers remove some. Just leave some flowers like the island has them placed. Found out that the tarantula and scorpions spawn in the same spot as last year. All three player caught their scorpion in the same spot. In my main town Player 3 went out just before scorpion season to get the where have you been out of the way.
She found a tarantula in the same spot and caught it. It moved and than stayed in place. It was a bonus tarantula.
Last year they freaked me out in the beginning. They no longer freak me out.

Yeah they're just super hard to find. I've only seen 2 all month so far.

I have a severe case of arachnophobia, so I when see a tarantula, I freak out and immediately turn off my 3DS. Then, I get an ear-full from Resetti, all thanks to my fears.
