I was watching an interesting video about a guy discussing the mystery of humans having this fear of things that look human but not quite at the same time. When something looks almost human but not quite. I would link the video, but idk what the audience rating of it would even be tbh due to many disturbing imagery/creation examples. But it is called, Why Do We Fear the Uncanny Valley?

He went over theories such as maybe it's the genetic tendency to avoid diseased things and corpses, centuries of religious stories/imagery about beings that aren't human but have human features consuming or terrorizing humans in some way, how other real hominoids existed with our ancestors at the same time at one point and may have competed, attacked or warred with each other, or how maybe there was a creature that purposefully mimicked the appearance of humans that was also predator, ect.

But it got me thinking, do you think it is possible for a person to be conditioned to the uncanny valley? Is it possible to lose that fear with over exposure? Kind of like how a person who may watch a lot of horror movies may find things that use to be scary to them aren't anymore.

♦️What do you think about the uncanny valley?
♦️What is something that hits the uncanny valley for you? (Use words/be mindful)
♦️Is there something that hits the uncanny valley for someone else but you don't feel uncomfortable about it? (Use words/be mindful)
♦️Why do you think humans hold this fear/uncomfortability?
♦️Do you think humans will one day lose this fear/uncomfortability? Especially in consideration of the rise of virtual reality, AI, and robotics?
