Calling all StreetPass veterans! Did you earn a mighty collection of Balloons, Bunny Balloons, and Heart Balloons on Animal Crossing: New Leaf back in the day using StreetPass? It's time to bring those skills to TBT in this dusting-style event where you can earn brand new balloon collectibles by interacting with your fellow users!
How To Play
Earn StreetPass Silver currency by interacting with your fellow forum users on The Bell Tree including creating posts, reacting to other posts, leaving messages on user profiles, and more until the Farewell to New Leaf event ends on Thursday, March 21st at 11:59PM EDT. Legend has it that spacing out your activities throughout the event could prove more fruitful!
Prizes
After earning some StreetPass Silver, you can redeem your hard-earned currency for four different choices of prizes in the Shop!
Mystery Bunny Balloon Token - 100 StreetPass Silver
Transforms into a random Blue, Cyan, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Pink, Purple, or Sweet version of the Bunny Balloon collectible.
Mystery Heart Balloon Token - 100 StreetPass Silver
Transforms into a random Blue, Cyan, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Pink, Purple, or Sweet version of the Heart Balloon collectible.
Mystery New Balloon Token - 50 StreetPass Silver
Transforms into a random new Yellow, Pink, Purple, or Sweet version of the regular Balloon collectible.
Mystery Classic Balloon Token - 25 StreetPass Silver
Transforms into a random classic Blue, Light Blue, Green, Orange, or Red version of the regular Balloon collectible.
Around 10PM EDT every other day during the Farewell to New Leaf event, all purchased Balloon Tokens will transform into a random colour of the specified balloon type. You can choose the type of balloon received by purchasing the Balloon Token of your choice, but the color cannot be chosen in advance.
Community Unlocks
Additionally, if our community reaches milestones of combined StreetPass Silver spent in the Shop, you can unlock the ability to purchase some of the new Balloon collectibles in the Shop for 25 MEOW Coupons
each. Small amounts of MEOW Coupon redemption codes can be unlocked as a community through this process too.
Silver Milestones are tracked by the total number of StreetPass Silver held by the NPC Phineas as all funds from purchased Balloon Tokens will go to his wallet, similar to TBT's beloved and richest member Jingle. (EDIT: Currently this tracking is accurate, but we are aware of a bug that may cause it to stop updating.)
The specific color unlocked at a milestone will be determined randomly each time allowing that type and color of Balloon to be purchasable by everyone for MEOW Coupons. For example, if the 6000 Silver Milestone is reached and the RNG roll determines Purple, then the Purple Heart Balloon would be unlocked in the Shop for 25 MEOW Coupons.
We have until the end of Farewell to New Leaf to accomplish our goals, so remember -- it's a marathon, not a sprint! Please note that not all goals may be achievable.
Know Your Limit, Play Within It
Please note that there are limits in place on how much StreetPass Silver you can earn at a time in consideration of avoiding a 'grind' or encouraging spam. You should not expect to continually earn currency indefinitely, but rather small amounts continually over the course of Farewell to New Leaf.
It is not possible to earn more than 600 StreetPass Silver throughout the entire event. But don't worry, these balloons will surely make a comeback soon during The Bell Tree's 20th Birthday year!
