Okay so Im landscaping my town and Im starting to question whether this is such a good idea. I have paths all over my ground along with trees, bushes and flowers. Dont we have to have open spaces on the ground in order for snowballs and dung beetles to appear?

I could be overthinking this, as usual, but I think its a legit thing to ponder.... Im not going to go tearing down my trees or bush starts. If anything, Ill just not landscape anymore until December/January and just take this time to collect starts and saplings.

You could just ask to visit a Bell Tree user's less developed town to catch a dung beetle. :)

Edit: Oops, forgot that opening a gate prevents some bugs from spawning...

oh crap i totally forgot about snow people TT^TT frick. thanks for reminding me!

I think you can still build snowmen on path patterns. You just need to watch where you roll those snowballs. My best bet is that you don’t put the snowballs on the paths, so yes, erase them when the snow falls.

There's always space, don't worry! Both my towns are full of stuff and when winter comes there's still snowballs and space :)
You only need one free tile without flowers, bushes and stuff and a free space all around it (there can be flowers and patterns) to set your snowperson on. Even the most cluttered town has those. If anything, pick a few flowers when winter come and replant them once it's over. :)

You can? Hmm, I'll try to remember to erase the paths when the snow arrives.

Everyone else: youre welcome. :)

Oh..... okay, see I didnt know this either. See still learning stuff after playing for years. But then I should have known since I heard that you can force fossils to spawn in certain areas by just placing paths and flowers everywhere except in certain areas so it makes since for it apply to snowballs too.

You can build a snowman on your tiles. When it disappears it erases your tile and you have to replace it.
Late December or early January the snow will start sticking to the pathway tiles. Makes it easier to roll the snowball to the small areas with no flowers.

You have to catch the dung beetle in your own town.

Hmm, something else I didnt know. We cant catch the dung beetle in another town? Hmm, thats something else interesting to know. I mean we can catch other bugs and fish in other peoples town so its random that the dung beetle is excluded .

The scorpion, bee, tarantula and walking leaf will also not appear if a town's gate is open :)

Heavy landscaping, in any season, also prevents most of the trees from being harvested properly, severely limits the output from the money rock, can destroy the presents...I got the impression people landscaped when their interest in the normal gameplay was basically over.

I've got tons and tons of flowers, I pull up flowers when hitting the money rock and keep space clear below trees and keep my dirt paths clear of flowers, but otherwise, almost every square in my town is covered in flowers--so it's possible to do both.

i'm kinda doin both. making sure i have enough space and stuff around rocks and certain trees etc. i think most people lay flowers on all tiles when they're done with it
