Didn't read all these posts but skimmed...I think the new one will allow you to back up your data to your pc, which is nice. Still, if they don't pull the rotten trick of making something exclusive to the new system I don't need or want one.

Still, a backup would be nice if it can save towns...

Slightly off-topic question: why do people even go to the multi-player island (other than to get the exclusive items)? I've gone to try to do island games with people but no one I've connected with seems interested in that. Why are they there?

I doubt if it'll let you save a corrupted town. It's just that you will be able to back up your SD card without taking it out, which will probably mean the screenshots thread will become more active, LOL.

We know next to nothing about the power boost of the New 3DS, but if it's more powerful, there will definitely be exclusives. Personally, I'm hoping it'll mean a Super Mario Galaxy New 3DS (and not just a port, though I'm sure I'd buy it).

Actually the 2DS was never released in Japan, it was an outside release of just the normal 3DS we know without 3D. It only has a slight tiny different, but nothing major of a change to its guts and hardware. All I know it has a longer battery life than the 3DS.
So I can imagine it being possible as this is a console upgrade. But will they add it who knows.

Nope. For me if I do it just acts perfectly normal and still runs with people in my town or at someone else's town.

Same here haha. I can't be bothered to keep up with the latest gadgets/consoles x_x I probably won't be getting it unless there's some game that I HAVE to have that's New 3DS exclusive. (Like how I bought a 3DS just so I could play ACNL lol)
