Sonic or Mario?

Which of the long time characters do you prefer and why?

I will say that Mario has the Disney qualities, but Sonic is being marketed pretty well.

Mario games got me into video games to begin with. I've played Sonic games too but I have more fun playing Mario.

That is a really tough question to answer! Sonic was probably the first video game I ever played, so I want to say Sonic for nostalgia. Also, I was given a Sonic and Tails plushie when I was really young as a gift for being brave after I got some teeth removed. I also love Mario, and Mario Kart Deluxe 8 is one of my all time favourite games! However, I think Mario just nudges in front ever so slightly!

Choosing between franchises based on the games I play, I'd have to go with Mario. Choosing between characters as the question poses, Sonic without a doubt! Even better than hedgehogs are echidnas!

For the sake of argument, choosing an echidna over Sonic isnt fair. That would be like me saying Andre the Giant is better than Mario. It might be true but try to stay on topic Moderator

I'm always amazed when people don't know what some Australian animals are! I had another friend who didn't know about wombats (they are not a type of bat)!

My video game name would be Knuckles' Chaotix! Knuckles from the Sonic series is an echidna, which is why I mentioned it!

Oh, editing to add that I did make a character based off the echidna species and Knuckles! I like to think she has super strength much like Knuckles.

I never really played that much Sonic, but I have played a lot of Mario. When I was little I used to watch several Sonic series (one was 2D and I believe it was Sonic and his two siblings but I could be tweaking on that detail? And the other was 3D and had character like Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Eggman etc etc), and I loved that aspect of the franchise, but the games didn't appeal to me. Mario on the other hand was the inverse for me; I played tons of games with Mario, but I never was interested in any shows or movies

Because of that, I'd say Mario is my favourite of the two, since this is the gamer's lounge and not focused on movies lol

Sonic. Even though I have played more Mario games than Sonic ones I like Sonic more as a character.

Mario! One of the first games I played when I was little was Super Mario Bros., and the 3D Mario games are probably my favorite game series of all time. I also love the 2D games and the spin-off games like Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Party, and Mario Kart. I did enjoy some Sonic games when I was a kid as well, but I haven't played them in a long time

Sonic?

I always thought the Wario Land series was the better version of Mario Bros.

It's fairly close but my Sega Genesis bias kicks in. For older games Sonic takes it but for modern games Mario has the edge.
