So what`s so bad about Rodney?

I keep seeing stuff on here about people disliking Rodney so I'm curious what's so bad about him?

Not a damn thing. I have him on my island, and I love him. He's the only villager to consistently wear the gift I gave him. Plus, he shares a birthday with my dad.

It could be because a popular YouTuber who makes New Horizons Let's Plays (AustinJohnPlays) really didn't like him. I watch his videos often and I admit that his Rodney-hating may have rubbed off on me...

He just reminds me of this type of kid everyone knew/ or even was at some point who is like "Oh yeah my dad works at Nintendo, so I got this super exclusive bababababa", not sharing, just bragging. Or that got mad when their team wasn't winning and since the ball was theirs the game ended, or that they rage quitted a videogame because they were losing after bragging for hours about how amazing they were and the other kids were below ground level compared to them.

I dunno, his face gives me that impression and it makes me a little uncomfortable.

a lot of people are just opinionated about "ugly" villagers. he doesn't appeal to me but I don't think he looks that bad either... there's really nothing bad about him, he just doesn't appeal to everyone.

Lol Rodney was my guy in NL he was great. (Well, and smugs were also less snobby in NL and I could actually stand them.) But I think he may have actually become uglier in NH with the graphical update - at least it felt that way to me when I saw him at a friend's campsite. Maybe because his colors got more vivid and contrast each other a bit more?

Then again if I got him on my island I could definitely learn to love him. His face... is dumb, but still charming in like an ugly-cute way. If that makes sense to anyone.

I like his color scheme, i like hamsters and i like smugs, but i don't like Rodney. He tried and he failed. Sorry!

He has a nice color scheme, cute eyes, and I like his heart shaped nose, but his big mouth + buck teeth is what makes him a lil ugly imo.
I don't think he's hideous, there are much worse villagers than him, but he could be a lot cuter if he had a better shaped mouth.

I'm not bothered by him. I actually quite like his base coloring and I think his freckles are cute. If his eyes weren't droopy, I doubt as many people would have a problem with him, but that doesn't really bother me.

His house looks cute.
