So redd's tent squished my items

I was very careless and I left some very important items in my plaza, and when I loaded my game, redd's tent was placed right above them. So... if I get a cranky to suggest the police station, will I get them back? or do they start retrieving items AFTER the police station is built? stupid unorderables

I had read somewhere that you should be able to retrieve the items once your police station is built, even if you build it after the items were lost. Also, anyone can suggest a police station. Good luck.

yeah, i put all my bush starts in the plaza then chip came and took them all away a couple months later i built the station and all my starts came back!
