He told me to bury it, but it was in my letters. So I was confused since as far as I knew, you can't bury letters, and in my anxious confusion I ripped it open and read the letter. It talked about how it was his old soccer shirt and that in 10 years when he opens this time capsule it should fit him again. At this point I realized I probably shouldn't have done that but quickly shook that feeling off I figured I could still bury the contents and it'd be fine, so I dug a hole by his house and tried to bury it, but couldn't. So I took the present out of the time capsule and tried to bury that. I couldn't, so I ripped the whole stupid thing open and buried the shirt inside. At this point I paused for a second to think about what I had just done. Blind optimism told me I had buried it, thus everything would be fine. So I walked back to moose and talked to him, of course this didn't go well. First he asked for the capsule and freaked out on me that it was open. Second he takes a look inside and freaks out on me a second time that the capsule item was gone. Meanwhile his shirt is covered in dirt and crap under his house. His last words were "Dude, not cool bro."

I can't stop laughing. Moose is a dick anyways **** it.

perfect story.

Frita asked me to bury one of her time capsule and a month later asked me to dig it up. Inside there was a letter attached to the shirt saying how she hoped that science would figure out a way to get the stain out of her favorite shirt... god i love that sheep

I opened the first time capsule given to me to bury and thought that everything would be okay if I put the present back on the letter and try to bury it.
In my case, though the villager who gave me the responsibility is one of my favourites now and I hated disappointing him. Even after telling me of my wrong doing before walking away with sad swirls around his head... I felt awful after doing such a thing that I mailed him a letter with the present attached, hoping that would make things better.
Even now I still feel horrible about doing that and vowed never to do that again. Unless it a time capsule from a villager I don't like. Then it's okay! :P

That's hilarious! :D...Same thing happened with my first time capsule. Only I really liked Marshall and he acted all disappointed in me for opening it and "losing" the present inside (it was a shirt and it was in my inventory o.o) so it made me feel kinda bad at the time.

Robin asked me to do so I did, in the farthest corner of my town so I won't forget. I can never open a gift, the guilt will kill me!

I thought the exact same thing. I even bought wrapping paper to try to wrap the shirt again when it wouldn't go back into the time capsule.

Time capsules are probably the funniest thing in New Leaf.

This thread has me rolling.

Yup... :P I did the very same thing, too! Didn't work then either! Then again there's always going to be a first mistake, right?

These stories are both hilarious and horrifying. It makes me afraid to think about what will happen when one of my townsfolk gives me a time capsule, but otherwise, it's absolutely hilarious.

Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm... Quillson asked me to bury his, which I dutifully did, right next to his house so I wouldn't forget.
Next day the star where I buried it was gone though.

I figured it must have been the way the game was, but now you're saying it should still be there?

He will apparently ask for it back in a week or so.

Perhaps you had a visitor run off with it.

I'm assuming it'll reappear when you have to dig it up so it won't confuse you. Mine dissapeared too.

Indeed, next time I won't disappoint poor Marshall.
Same with me not disappointing Benedict. Seeing those purple swirls and the gloomy face... Made me feel so guilty that I've learned my lesson to not tamper with personal items in the game.

I will **** on moose's shirts until he leaves. Just sayin'

I need to figure out what my dream jock villager is.

I read somewhere that they'll reappear after around a week or two of being buried. The villagers say they'll come to you when they want it back while giving them to you, but I assume they just forget after a while and are happy when you bring it back without being asked.

Pashmina subtly asked if I was poor and then later I talk to Diana and she told me people have been calling me a bell pincher

To the people who still need confirmation: yes, the star does reappear after a while. I think it was around three weeks for both time capsules I buried. They won't ask you to bring it back; once you dig it up you just need to bring it to them and they'll show you the letter and present with it.

Also, I know the place I digged them up was a few spaces away from where I'd buried them because I planted flowers on the original spot. So they don't disappear, they just move to the closest open space. I assume it works the same for patterns.
