Share Your Switch 2 Experiences

Some consoles are now in the wild. Do you have yours yet? What are your thoughts, what are you playing and are your expectations getting met?

Mine has been dispatched this morning with DPD for delivery tomorrow....
I will be playing Mario Kart World, and likely putting Pokémon diamond in my slot

I've just finished setting up my console, and transferring data. I'm currently waiting for Welcome Tour to finish downloading! I'm probably going to hold off until tomorrow to play Mario Kart World since I'm planning to start it with a friend, but I'll see!

I'm going to reserve my opinions on the Switch 2 for a little longer, since I've had it for a grand total of an hour!

The local EbGames called last week to let me know about the 9pm release tonight.
I don't like crowds and will wait to pick it up tomorrow. I prepaid but owe a couple dollars for environmental fees that they couldn't charge. While I wait I'm going to move my Scarlet and Violet Teams to Pokemon Home and make sure all games are Updated. I have 6 profiles to move over.

Plan on purchasing some Eshop cards tomorrow for Fantasy Life and another game that might be released by the end of the month.

I will almost certainly be buying Fantasy life. I was hoping for a physical but the switch 2 improvements make it worthwhile.

I got mine right after work! I get off work at midnight MT, meaning I could have picked it up at 10 pm. I am glad I waited until 2 hours later! I got there and walked right in to pick up my Switch 2. The people at the door with Mario hats said I picked the best time. In and out in a few minutes.. I asked and they told me the line was around the building at the start, (it's a huge building!!) It was kind of cool to see parents with their kids at midnight buying the system without preorders! There was a lot of stock for people without preorders!

I got it all set up, and transferred data from my original Switch. I only played one match of Mario Kart World. I picked 50cc single player just to get a taste, and it was fun and relatable! Not sure how one new feature in the game works so far, but I won't spoil it!

I bought one at GameStop last night! I only had time to unbox it and check it out before heading to bed, but I’m so excited to get off work early and play Mario Kart World with my boyfriend. I love how big the screen is, and the sound the Joy-Cons make is satisfying!

I just want to say how much I like the new Pro Controller for Switch 2. What an upgrade! The buttons, the shape, the joystick. Everything is much sturdier, quieter.

Don’t pass on the Pro controller for Switch 2.

On the other hand, I am underwhelmed by AC:NH on Switch 2. I was hoping for a framerate boost. Alas, it’s still just as slugish as on Switch 1. Coming off Mario Kart World, it’s quite obvious. Oh well.

So I've got my ethernet plugged in (as well as a WiFi connection), I went to settings and clicked on Download over wired connection when in sleep mode.
Left my console alone for over an hour, and it hasn't even downloaded MKW?

Could just be an optimisation thing, maybe ACNH was built knowing switch 1s limitations, they cut back on a lot of powerful stuff or whatever hence the use of upgrade packs on some titles. The upgrade packs obviously do a fix like would be done on ACNH so strange they haven't announced one.

It's also promising to see my battery level has been sucked down by 20% already just downloading Mario Kart World.

Otherwise the console is nice , let's see how it runs long term

The framerate is capped at 30 fps IIRC. So that hasn't been improved. What is improved though is those very noticeable framerate dips that would happen in heavily decorated parts of your island. Those are gone though.

That's awesome, so no more lagging islands that are overly decorated (like mines.).

Walmart said delivered by 9am, so I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up at 7:15am today! Came with a free coke and can of pringles which was funny. Transferred all games and data from Switch to Switch 2 and hopped right into Mario Kart World! Already have 7 hours played so far.

In Canada EbGames(Gamestops) and London Drugs have Switch 2 for sale. It was around 130pm when I picked up my preorder at EbGames.
System Transfer took about 9 minutes to complete but still need to move the photos/videos. Animal Crossing took about 13 minutes to download and that included the DLC. When I clicked on AC it gave an option of starting a new island or picking one of your save data. Opened it using my main profile and everything appears to be there. I didn't have time to play. Still need to add my other 2 profiles to AC.

Going to log back in later and download the other games that I'm playing right now and leave the rest for another day.
Speedrunners are very happy with the Scarlet and Violet update. It's nice to see them back trying for a new record.

I went to GameStop to pick up a Switch 2 today and managed to buy the last console. The cashier commented that he couldn't believe the new Mario Kart was $80. I wanted the bundle, but the console by itself was the only copy left. I reluctantly bought Mario Kart World separately and took it home. I was surprised by the new screen. I expected a downgrade from the Switch OLED since it's an LCD, but in some ways it looks better. The higher resolution makes the screen less pixelated, and the colors are vibrant.

Transferring save files has been fast, but redownloading all my games has taken a while. It's nowhere near as fast with downloading games as my PS5. The eShop is much less laggy than the Switch 1. That is, without a doubt, the most significant upgrade. The Joy-Cons are more comfortable than the Switch 1, but I still plan on buying third-party grips next week.

I managed to make it through the entire workday, a workout, and dinner before playing! Mario Kart looks absolutely incredible. I almost can’t believe it’s a Nintendo game. If only I wasn’t so tired and was able to enjoy the game…
