Does anyone know if the switch 8 deluxe suffers from online players injecting items etc and cheating / ruining experience?
Obviously £70 is a lot of money and I'm hoping this certainly isn't going to happen (at least as much) with MKW.
I'm still playing Mk Wii U online with pretendo and you still get cheaters on there, magically getting a star in first place right at the end of the race......
Well, yeah, but it's very rare to find hackers on the Switch due to higher risk of getting IP banned.
It's more common on the Wii U as that console got defunct since 2017, Nintendo couldn't care less on what you do with that, so of course there's gonna be more hackers.
At least Pretendo, just like with Wiimmfi are targeting cheaters and banning them.
Now, with the way players cheat in 8 Deluxe without hacking of any way, the closest I can think of are item trolls, where they stay in last place and disrupt the players by using stars and ramming into the racers, even slowing down and repeatedly hitting them if they want.
Now of course, this was more severe in Mario Kart 7 as stars has a knockback similar to a Bullet Bill, and there was no invincibility frames. And this goes even worse when hackers do it, as it forcibly stun-locks you into the situation until the game kicks you out due to inactivity.
At least they fixed this issue in later games to where you can at least have a chance to escape, but still tho.
(BTW, most players say bagging (Which is to stay in the far back in the beginning of the race against the racer in 1st to chain stronger items while grinding for 10 coins, and holding on to the bad placements and using your strong items strategically on lap 3) is a form of cheating, but in reality, it's more seen as a strategy most pro players do rather than a cheap shot, so it doesn't count. And it only works in 8DX than to other games in the franchise due to how the item distribution in 8DX works.)
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention World! I'm sure all of this will be fixed due to the way you spin out less when getting hit by items, and the shock leaves a less impact after the hitstun.
