It’s a patch update.
Patch notes:
-Fixed 3rd level bridge bug
-Fixed bug where the wetsuit might not be sold in nook’s cranny
-Fixed a bug where the hermit crab might appear places other than the beach
-Fixed the speech bubble bug

Yep, that sounds about right! That speech bubble one was the only one I noticed, it was getting on my nerves

When you pressed + right as the camera app opened the UI would disappear so you could take nice videos. It was patched out in the diving update, which made a lot of people upset so maybe they added it back in lol

I'm fairly certain that there was a server maintenance of some kind. I went to open my gates for a trade and was forced to update / restart the game before being able to do so. I'm not sure what it was supposed to fix, but thankfully it downloaded pretty fast.

That’s lucky. It did happen to my friend. Not sure why it only happened to some people and not others. It was listed as being fixed in the patch notes, but I don’t know if it was fixed for her or not yet.
