Second-guessing dreamies

TBT, I'm in a bit of a pickle... :(

Adopting all 10 deer villagers has been my New Leaf goal for a very long time, since I discovered a Dream Town with all ten deer villagers. The deer seemed to gravitate toward me through campsites and random move-ins and starting villagers, and when I found out that there were exactly ten, it seemed like I was destined for a town full of deer @_____@

But over the past couple months I've been doubting this goal more and more... I like all of the deer villagers, but I also love all the other villagers that have come to stay in my town... Yuka is one of my all-time favourite villagers, Merengue was very sweet, I'm definitely going to miss Tia when she leaves, Ankha was beautiful and interesting, I really miss Snake, and sometimes I see other villagers like Drago and really want to befriend them...

I've never wanted my deer villagers to leave. I adore all of them ^___^ But I wish others could stay, too. It's really hard to let go of the other villagers, like Snake and Tia and Mitzi(who I have very fond memories of, since she was a starting villager and my best friend in my first ever town on the Gamecube game). Sometimes I fear that once I finally have all ten deer villagers, I won't be happy with them...

I wish I could have more than ten villagers ;____; How do you deal with second-guessing your dreamies and goals? Is it really worth it? To those of you who have all your dreamies, how does it feel? Was it worth it? Do you have any regrets or doubts?

Personally, I could never just pick certain villagers to be my dreamies.
There are just way too many awesome villagers that I would miss out on.

I discovered Julian on accident and fell in love with the theory of the only unicorn in the game an adopted him. Afterwards I had adopters remorse and did not like him so much. He clashed with my town and his personality was not my favorite. For now I have moved him to my winter town in progress for now unless I find that I dislike him anymore. Diana was a starter for me and even though snooty grew on me especially as my friendship level with her grew! I think deer villagers are adorable. I think the whole try before you buy aspect really would apply in this situation. If you can come across someone who doesn't mind you talking to their villagers and you can visit every once in a while, I would highly recommend it. That's probably not too possible, so maybe dream towns. :)

I just got Chrissy recently and was unsure about her but she is so much better in person and daily! Not sure if this helped, but just my experience!

Bumping this thread because I need advice again...

I invited a wolf named Skye to live in my town. She meshes PERFECTLY in Cloud, and I love wolves... I've been wondering if maybe I should make a cloud or sky themed town. The original reason I wanted all the deer was to have an amazing Dream Town with all of the deer, but I prefer my town in Winter and the name Cloud is symbolic to me and was created before I had that goal.

Could I hear stories from someone who has been in this situation or advice? @____@;

My solution to this was to purchase another copy of the game..i wish the limit was 15 because then i could fit in all of my favorites into one town. I try to balance my time between both towns evenly but Astoria is so much farther developed than Palette and i tend to pay there more :/

Maby you should do like 3-4 deers but I did it to I got rid of 4 of mine and switched them out you should do the same before you get to far

I have like 6 normals between my two towns too because i love normals but they get so repetitive so that's another reason why i opted for a second copy.

I don't remember how I dealt with trying to narrow it down and officially keep 10 dreamies in my main town but it was a hassle since I see another villager I'm like oh I have to have that villager in my town. But because I couldn't deal with just 10 villagers I got myself another copy and I wanted a new town as well. You could probably if you have money buy yourself another copy so you can have another extra 10 dreamies?

Eh, personally I think there are too many neat villagers to just stick to just a few for the entirety of the game. I have Marshal, Lolly, Ankah, Genji, and Punchy now, and I've had Marina, Diana and Fauna before. The only reason I kept them was because of how hard they are to obtain. But honestly, it makes the game feel stale. Every time you get on, it's the same villagers over and over, and you visit other towns and there they are again. Recently, Rasher moved in and completely clashed with my whole town, but I've kind of grown to like him! And sure, maybe you don't always get the best villager in the best spot, but that's what makes your town unique.

Keep your deers if you're still really passionate about having an all deer town, but if you're not %100 in love with them, then maybe it's time to move on to other animals.

It’s best to be flexible and diversified. You never want to think “I have the perfect 10” them BAM! A random move out that you didn’t walk past enough times in a 5 day period hits you.

I originally tried to do a perfect 10 list but things get cloudy quickly. Some dreamies I thought should make it didn’t impress me that much like Agent S or Apollo. Some I thought were just overhyped until I actually saw them onscreen doing their thing like Merengue, Stiches, and Marshal. There are a few that I really miss like Skye and Fang, but I know I wouldn’t have time to sub 15 out to get them back as I’m quite happy with my 10.

Honestly try to stay diversified. The village seems better when you have variety. You can always have certain areas of your town math themes instead of the entire town. For example where Julian’s house is (and where Skye’s used to be) is surrounded by white and blue roses with perfect pair trees to seem kind of like a stary sky. I have Merengue’s house surrounded by red and pink roses and peach trees. If I had all one type of villager I don’t think I’d like it as much, I have different ones that feel like they’re own personality.

Right now I have 10 that I would consider in my “Top Tier”

Merengue
Stitches
Marshal
Freya
Beau
Dianna
Poppy
Pappi
Julian
Phoebe

And I’m just content with that. There are others I might want slightly more if I sat down and really tried to get exactly the top 10, I miss Fang and Skye, I would really want Erik. If tragedy ever struck and I lose one though I’d have others that I’d want to slide in.

Maybe you could change your villagers to match the cloud theme and pick ones that are blue or white. That would give you a new variety of villagers. Keep Bruce, and Diana from the deers. You adopted Skye, and Tia, Yuka and Mitzi could stay. Bam and 3 more villagers you might like would make for a cute set of cloud dreamies.

theres nothing wrong with changing past goals, go for what you think would make you happiest with your town.

i have dreamies, and once i get bored of a villager ill exchange them for a different dreamie. dont stick with something just because it was your first goal.

I have never had all of my dreamies... either I change them or I lose them and have to cycle for them. I have this same problem with Roald... I love him but he is in a terrible spot. I feel torn, but I am going to keep him until I have all my dreamies. If I feel like he needs to go, I will replace him. :)

I always second guess my villagers, its either get sick of them or I get bored of them, but i keep about 7 and let some certain villagers move, I also have been thinking about an all deer town too, they have an almost even personality spread and look pretty good, so i don't know lol.
