as the title suggests I'm interested in what people's opinions on seafood are :)

I live in a country where seafood is a Huge thing and I absolutely cannot stand it aside from white fish and (very) occasionally crab

does anyone else have a similar situation? do you love seafood but it's not widely available in your area?? is seafood not really a thing where you live? have you never tried seafood? what are your favourite/least favourite types??

I love seafood but unfortunately I live in the midwest in the US so it's not the freshest stuff. Sushi is probably my favorite form of seafood followed by tempura and other fried fish. Shellfish and crab I'm kinda eh on, it depends a lot on how they are cooked and what they are paired with. Salmon is my favorite fish so far. Tuna I'm eh on and for environmental reasons I only have it very rarely.

I can imagine that it would be relatively difficult to get seafood in the middle of the country!! I've tried to get into seafood with sushi but I can't get past the fact that it's raw haha, I would definitely agree about fried fish though! we do fish and chips here and it's probably one of the best ways to have fish (in my opinion)

I'm vegetarian so I won't eat seafood, but I used to occasionally and the taste was just nothing special to me. I live by the ocean so it's a pretty big thing here but I just never understood the hype. When I wasn't vegetarian I always preferred the flavor of chicken or beef. The only times I have been impressed with seafood was when it was deep fried, but that's just because anything deep fried is amazing, lol.

I was also vegetarian for a while and I don't think I ever thought "man I wish I ate meat so I could have some nice Seafood right now" (I will admit I occasionally felt that way about chicken tenders and cheeseburgers)

i’m in canada and while there are definitely plenty of places to get seafood from around here, it’s never appealed to me. the only seafood that i can tolerate is white fish and maybe lobster but other than that, i steer clear of it. ><

I'm not a big seafood fan, my family never ate seafood growing up so I was just never exposed to it to develop a liking for it. Probably the only seafood my family ever had was shrimp sometimes, which I have always liked. Otherwise I had basically no exposure to seafood.

My boyfriend on the other hand grew up eating tons of seafood and loves it. I have tried different preparations of seafood a few times when I'm out with him. I can eat sushi but it isn't my first choice. I don't enjoy any processed fish products like fish sticks or fish cakes. I have had fish at Chinese restaurants on two separate occasions that was good but I have no idea what kind of fish it was or how they prepared it. Crab is okay but messy. I don't like squid or octopus because of the texture especially.

So yeah I guess I am still just getting used to the idea of eating seafood. Maybe one day I will learn how to prepare it for myself in a way that I would like it.

I grew up eating seafood, being from the west coast of the US. I had family in New England and we'd go up for clambakes and I'd eat the steamers by the bucket. Never was much into lobster or crab, which suited my folks fine. I also loved eating the tuna fish my Dad would bring back from fishing trips, as well as the occasional shark (hey at least he did something with the bycatch, so don't hate) and barracuda.

That all changed when seafood decided it hated me, and now I carry an epi-pen and gaze longingly at bowls of REAL clam chowder. Not that ketchup over clams in water rubbish.

I’m in a similar boat as @Sharksheep: I love it but the Midwest is too far away from any fresh fish hotspots. I love Red Lobster but I’m sure it’s crud compared to what’s offered in New England!

I love seafood! I eat seafood a lot, I am partial to breaded fish. I also LOVE crab!

I live in a fishing community in New England, so I've definitely grown up on seafood. Stripers, bluefish, lobster, scallops, quahogs. I've had them all. I missed the oyster festival this year (cancelled because of covid) and I wasn't able to go clamming, for the same reason (littlenecks on the half-shell, yum!), but hopefully next year it'll be back.

Seafood is pretty good. It can be found at grocery stores around here but they're expensive, especially king krab and lobster. Luckily I'm not too much of a fan of either. I like shrimp and tuna the most but I also like battered/breaded fish of pretty much any kind. Salmon can kind of be too strong for me so I only want a taste.

l eat crab legs, clams, lobster, any kind of sushi, fish, and something else l can't remember.

I love seafood! It's my favourite kind of meat/protein lol, but the rest of my family don't like it so much + it's more expensive than other meats, so I don't get to eat it as much as I like. (although currently we have a ton of salmon fillets that need cooking lol). If I go to a restaurant I almost always pick the seafood option.

My favourites are smoked haddock, baked salmon, prawns, sushi of any kind, crayfish, mackerel, and tuna. But tbh I'll try any kind of fish once.

Although despite being British, I don't like fish and chips. I don't like battered or breaded white fish very much.

People who dont like fish are weird.

My favorite kinds of seafood are clams, lobster, and crab. I also like sea urchin, fish, eel, roe, scallops, and mussels.

I’ve never eaten a fish before. I’ve had popcorn shrimp a few times but that’s it.

seafood is mostly good. my favorites are salmon, eel, octopus (fried), squid (fried), tuna, shrimp, mackerel, and tilapia. there's more, but idk what they're called in english and i didn't question my mom about it while growing up..

besides fish, i don't really reach for any other seafood when i'm cooking at home. growing up, my mom loved every seafood dish imaginable, but my dad didn't like most seafood. i enjoy grabbing food at seafood places if they offer the options i mentioned above. lobster, crab, and scallops are ok too, but it wouldn't be my first choice - still good from time to time though! i'm indifferent to clams, mussels, and oysters. i tried a snail once and i didn't like it :/

I live by the coast, so seafood is pretty available here. I like it, not all, but I do like it. I hate clams, oysters, any squishy mollusk like that served on a half shell. Esp if it's raw. But I do like alot of fish, crab, lobster, shrimp, squid, ect...
