Have you been to a buffet recently?

Where I live, most are long gone. When I was a kid they were numerous. I remember one in particular called the old country buffet, there were a few others I didn't know the name of, golden corral, multiple Chinese buffets, some sort of expensive seafood buffet place my parents went to but not me. There were still a few left over before 2020, now gone.

What kind of buffets are near you or that you like to go to?
What foods do you pick up?

I don't normally go out of my way to go to buffets, but I've been to several before at hotels and special events. For the most part they've been pretty good, although I think I had a bad experience with at least one or two, lol.

I used to love buffets when I was younger and we’d go to them all the time, but now they just seem gross to me. I can’t trust people to behave around all that open food and be considerate of others. I do enjoy the free hotel breakfast buffets but mostly for the juice and packaged pastries. I've always wanted to try the fancy expensive buffets in Vegas but I rather just cook a fancy meal at home

I’ve been to an Italian Buffet and an Asian buffet and both were amazing! It’s been a while, but I remember eating lots of pasta at the italian place. As for the Asian place, I love eating noodles with mushrooms, bean sprouts, and shrimp, sushi, octopus and mussels! :9

The buffets I've been to were usually hotel breakfast buffets but I think there were others in the past. I prefer to go to them early or at times when there is less people around. Usually one plate is enough for me, but I guess that sort of defeats the purpose of going to a buffet. I usually go to the non-hotel ones with other people because buffet restaurants seem odd to me for some reason so I wouldn't typically go to one with my husband or by myself.

The last time I went to a buffet was for my mum's birthday last year! I can't remember what I ate, but I remember it was fine. I don't know of too many buffet restaurants now (two, maybe?), but I'm not really a fan of dining out, either. Probably the best buffet restaurant I've been to was a Mongolian barbecue restaurant. You could get completely vegetarian dishes, the food was really good, and the staff were very friendly.

I haven't been to a buffet in ages. Not any of them in US anyway. Most of them where I live aren't very clean and picking through pans of food sitting out that everyone else has handled (and you have no idea how clean they are being) is kind of gross. I did go to two different fancy buffets in 2019 and then 2023. Both of those times were at some Caribbean resort and the food was fresh and hadn't been sitting around for ages. I won some all paid expense trip. Never thought I'd ever go to a place like that, let alone win a trip. They had some fancy chefs making all of the stuff on the spot and you could watch them. I remember you could go up to one of them and request stuff like an omelet the way you want it with whatever inside and also pancakes. I went to that breakfast buffet each morning. It was awesome.

I had a breakfast buffet two weeks ago! It was hotel breakfast buffet so it was nice. Had sushi, ramen, ha kaw, siomai, stuff from a charcuterie board, etc. I usually go for Asian food as I'm not a huge fan of the more fried stuff.

The last time I went to a buffet that wasn't a hotel was like... 2 years ago? But because there were so many people I think the chefs weren't able to put out quality dishes, so most of the dishes tasted... subpar. Like they were cooked, but many were unseasoned or bland. Really turned me off for the most part that I swore never to eat buffet anywhere again except hotel buffet. And besides, samgyupsal is more popular here which I much prefer if I had to choose an all-you-can-eat restaurant.

We used to go to Hometown Buffet or Sweet Tomatoes, but it’s been AGES. I might have been to a Chinese one before, too. And obviously the breakfast ones at hotels are good— especially when they have waffles!

I haven't been to buffets too many times in my life, though I can't say I'm a huge fan of them. Ultimately, it feels like the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none" applies to them. The last one I went to was this buffet restaurant for my former job's Christmas party 6 years ago. I ended up picking out food you'd get at a traditional Christmas supper (so turkey, mashed potatoes, etc.), and it was mediocre. The Christmas party was held there again the next year, but I elected not to eat anything there and just got Arby's on my way back instead, which I ended up enjoying a lot better, lol.

Yeah a lot of buffets, at least here in the states are of lower quality. It's just quantity over quality because lots of lower-class families go to them to get a lot of food for their money. Since its buffet style you can keep getting more until you're full or leave. I know a lot of families that would go on a Sunday and it would be their only meal so they'd just keep eating as much as they can until they were sick to the stomach.

If you go to somewhere fancy it's obviously going to be of better quality.

My dad and I go to an Asian buffet for lunch every Tuesday. It’s a nice place and the food isn’t bad. We used to have a really popular Chinese buffet restaurant but it closed about twelve years ago and everyone misses it.
