scorpion problems

i just TTed to 11:30pm and spent about 45 gosh darn minutes trying to find a scorpion. I didn't see a single one, but I ran across a tarantula.

I heard that they're not too hard to find after 11pm, and they're easiest to find July-August...so why did I not find one in the span of 45 minutes?? :c

problem is, my rivers are covered with flowers and pwps and bridges and such...I normally find tarantulas near my caf? and in the secluded parts of town, but the scorpions are still a problem >.<

My advice is: walk around with your headphones on. Scorpions and tarantula make hissing noises similar to the your river/pond's water sound. It's easier if you have your headphones on and identify the hissing noise's direction.
I did this last year and I got both the scorpion and tarantula under an hour. However I was paranoid as heck whenever I heard my pond.

I agree with TeeHee. If you just walk around all over with your net out, I guarantee you'll hear one before you see it. THEN FREEZE. Once you've seen it, you can catch it per usual. Approach once it's done hissing and is still. If it hisses again, freeze and repeat.

Finally caught my first one last night after searching for an hour and scaring off all the other insects I didn't want.

Keep your volume up and listen for rustling. I have almost never seen a tarantula/scorpion before hearing it. You can keep your net like TeeHee suggested, but you do always run the risk of getting bitten. It's a bit harder to do that until you get used to reacting to them.

You could also try the month that they aren't both in (for scorps I believe it is september) also walk around w/o your net and your volume turned up. If you didn't pay attention they have a distinct sound that they use when they move. So it's fairly easy for you to hear them. =)

I play with the TV on, so I can't hear them. I heard a scorp last night seconds before it stung me. I better play without external sounds tonight. I played for two hours with no luck last night.

just keep saving and continuing for one to spawn. if you can't find one, just save and continue and look around again. i agree it helps to have headphones one bc you can hear it scurrying around. i haven't caught one yet though bc i keep spawning tarantulas. @_@ for me i tend to see scorpions at around 1am, but their peak hour begins at 11 like everyone says.

Well, scorpions have a 5% chance of showing up, so I never bother outright looking for them since they always appear when you least expect them.
Just take a breather and don't look for them.
Believe me, they'll come after you sooner or later. xD

Haha, yeah, last night, when I gave up and decided to pop a balloon, one was behind a tree and stung me. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll try to just let one find me when I'm doing something else. I have nearly three full months, right?

just spent another hour searching with nothing. in the first five minutes i got a tarantula and then nothing. I tried 11pm, then 1am, without my net, with headphones, while saving and continuing and got nothing. :c
