Where are they most likely going to spawn? I have a lot of flowers(at least in bottom half) and Public works projects in my town. Is that going to be a problem?

I saw mine spawn near the buletin board and more to the left, near my campsite. Twice in two days and I missed it all. Now I never see it again =.=

Saw a tarantula a few times. The most recent chance I had to catch it, it dived into the flowers first, so maybe yeah on the flowers being a problem.

I haven't seen scorpions yet but most the tarantulas I see seem to be near the train station. Idk if it really means anything but I've noticed it.

They just spawn on the ground. I've seen tarantulas scurrying around in my large flower patches before.

Have yet to see a scorpion.

I usually see them near buildings like Re-Tail and the station. I have few large spaces in my town without flowers or PWPs where I see them pretty often as well.

I always see them a little bit south of my Re-Tail. I read somewhere that the spawn places are generally the same, and so far I think that's true. I had a scorpion spawn in the same place as a tarantula did just beforehand.

They tend to spawn in open areas but can walk into flower beds so you can't see them (only hear them). My town is covered in flowers so they usually appear near the tree plaza, in front of town hall, train station and Re-tail.
Good Luck.

The only tarantula I've seen was under some flowers. I have a lot of them, so I walked with my net out. Heard it before I saw it, and caught it. Haven't seen any scorpions so far, I'm hoping to hear them first, too.

I have 3 towns and found they spawn in the same spots. Town 2/3 are finished and have moved on to October and December.
Town 1 found them near the campsite, near 2 villagers house, event plaza, behind player 2 and 3 houses and by retail.
All of this places were where the rock spawns or did spawn before PWP.

Once you find the spawning spots go about your daily routine in those areas. Caught abunch in town 2 trying to get a big fish by the bridge. Kept moving to get the line in right and a tarantula walked behind me.

They like to go near the cliffs or rivers. My 2nd catch the tarantula was hanging on the edge of the cliff. I tried moving back to get it move. No lucky so I went for it and got it.
First scorpion showed up but went and hid in the tulips by the 2 players house. Heard the disappearing sound. Same thing happened in town 2 but I caught it.

I caught one earlier today, and it was down towards the end of my map in an open area (aside from some trees). Another one spawned in the same spot not even 3 minutes later, but I wasn't able to catch it.

I've only seen 2 tarantulas and 2 scorpions in my town so far; the first two tarantulas spawned near Re-Tail when I wasn't looking for them (actually, I literally ran into one of them, and the other spawned just as I was entering the building).

The scorpions...one spawned behind a tree oddly enough, and I didn't know it was there until I walked by while looking for a river fish for one of my villagers and this thing darted out from behind the tree and stung me.
The second one spawned in an open area, but Rodeo kept walking in the way of it and I wound up hitting him with my net and running for my life from the scorpion when the darned bull walked right into the path of my swing.

I keep checking those places and haven't seen a single tarantula or scorpion since. I hope you have better luck!

They're really random. They seem to only spawn when you don't pay attention to them like me.

Apparently their 'peak times' are from about 11pm-4am.
So unless you wanna stay up that late... you can try that. Or you can TT.

But try knocking into the trees that have any other bugs on them, so that scorpions or tarantulas have a better chance of spawning.
And walk through your town from down up, as you have a better field of vision, and turn up your volume so you can hear the bugs.

I've had 2 tarantula spawn so far, the first surprised me so much and chased me down (I was just minding my own business with my net pff), can't remember where it spawned from. Second was definitely lurking by the train station before it dived into some flowers. Gah need to do some serious tarantula and scorpion hunting!

This is excellent advice. I'll wear headphones to try and hear them when I go hunting. I hopefully have enough open space to see some spawn. I have yet to see one so far, but I'll wait for the optimal time and walk slowly and listen carefully. Hopefully this year I'll nab both a tarantula and a scorpion.

I've caught three tarantulas and seen several more, but I have yet to see a scorpion (in Mirage; I got one last year in Pangola). I just make circles around my town, go into the Roost to try to give them another chance to spawn, save and quit and restart, etc. Nothing yet. Hopefully posting this will cause them to spawn.

Am I the only one who types the name of the rare thing I'm looking for in the chat window? "Scorpion." I figure it'll give the game the idea. It hasn't worked yet ever.

I've only seen tarantulas, but one spawned near retail and the other right outside my house next to the cliff lol I went to it and it committed suicide by jumping off )':

Greaaat. So, I'm searching for two hours for a scorpion and am about to give up when I see a balloon to pop. I make my way to it and barely hear the rattle from behind a tree before I see stars above my character's head and I wake up at my house. Found one! Didn't see one! Didn't catch one! OTL.
