Scammers or uninvited guests stories?

We have all had that one person who likes to ruin the fun of the game. I thought it would be interesting to hear peoples 'scammer' or stealer stories.


For instance, I was playing in my friends town, with her other friend who was a boy. It was really fun! but then, a random person decided to join the game. She was really nice, but then she started to get a little suspicious. Mind you, i was messaging the host on BFF chat, and she was messaging her other friend. The girl would start to walk away from the group (we were taking a tour of the town). I decided to follow her, because my friend had heaps of hybrids, and had some stuff laying around that she knew we weren't going to take. You could tell she put a lot of time into her game. I actually dont remember if I saw her take some stuff, but I knew my friend said she lost some hybrids. We then ended the game, and all was well. We never heard from that girl again

I think, luckily, the only scammer I've really ever encountered was some girl on CT. I was buying some hibiscus shoots, and unfortunately, I needed a lot, so it took me a while. She ended up coming after some time, and even though she started with the whole hostage thing (starting a tour and begging for money), I just ignored her for the most part and continued buying shoots. In the end, she started insulting my mayor, saying I wasn't cute and stuff, and then she disconnected.

I was sort of annoyed I lost all the shoots I had bought, seeing as it took a while, but it was sort of fun to waste her time. ^^

I was waiting for someone to come over for a trade. I thought the person coming in was the one I was trading with, but it wasn't. As soon as he got off the train, he took off running. He didn't say "hi" or anything. He just started running. I panicked and hit the wifi. Then I reopened so the right person could come over.

I love to encounter scammers. Once I dropped off the items for someone who reset, and a random CT 7 year old came in and stole all of them, destroyed her grass, yelled out racist slurs, etc.

I've never come across any, but I'm very strict about who's allowed to visit my town. I also delete FCs as soon as I'm done with a trade.

One time shortly after ACNL came out I had a group of people I regularly wifi'd with, and a friend of one of these friends came over to my town. She was obviously quite young by her speaking patterns and she kept saying "I WANT FRUIT" and I told her not to shake the trees since they were perfect fruits on their last limb. Sure enough, we returned to the area after she left and all my perfect fruit trees were dead.

You can close the gate with a visitor in town, to prevent others coming in.

I have more than one 3ds and DS to DS with them - I still close the gate as it is possible that I could get a random walk in (no need for a friend code when it is DS to DS) from someone walking by the house. Unlikely but possible.

some guy at a town was a creeper and was just weird... he added me and after he started acting weird i deleted him and me and my friend ran away to my town

Luckily I've never encountered a scammer! But I just trade with people on here with a good rating, so it's kinda safe isn't it.

Woah... even the thought of someone coming to my town uninvited makes me shudder I am far too protective of my town! I only trade on here with people with impeccable wifi rating and always keep my gates closed outside of trade times. I also delete FC as soon as trades are done and only connect as "best friends" when playing with family members.

I rarely go to CT... I have heard enough horror stories to keep me away forever. I bought most of my rare island things from here :/

I never got an encounter with a scammer, except that one time someone kept asking me for bells on CT. I managed to trick the person and went on a tour, alone. Every time I went to go on a tour, the person would go on the chair, and I would just wait. I walked outside and came back in and won the fight XD.

I only trade on here with people with impeccable wifi rating

I'd be willing to trade with anyone as ratings do have the potential to be unfair or just a one-off. With the WiFi switch, nothing can go wrong.

I have never had an experience with a scammer, not even on CT. I have around 70 friends on my friends list that I keep forgetting to clear to avoid potential random visiters and nothing bad has happened to me yet.

Though, it's not like I have any valuable stuff laying around anyway. XD

I'm glad I've never encountered any scammers. I'm hardly on wifi and since there are more 3DSes than people in my house, I generally just do local and trade amongst my towns.

And since I live on a stretch of road that is almost all family and/or friends, I don't need to worry about someone random wandering in.

Sorry this has happened to others, though. Why do people insist on ruining a cute little game?

Some german chick wouldn't let me leave on the international island, so I just laughed at her and disconnected lol I also invited someone to my town, she ran and broke a few flowers (one was one of my special red roses I'm using to hopefully get blue roses) but I just asked her to be careful and let her stay. Then she started using her axe on my perfect apple trees to get fruit instead of just shaking them, which was super irritating. She stopped for a minute when I asked her to, started swinging her axe at me, then went right back to hacking away at my trees... She also picked up one of the black lillies I had behind my windmill (i guess she thought I wouldn't notice) to wear without telling me, and didn't put it back when I asked her to. So I disconnected and immediately removed her from my friends list :U Thankfully, things like that don't happen often.

I don't entertain in any of my towns and only visit others to trade. The only one who comes to my towns is my daughter. I actually am what you would call a solitary player I suppose. AC is my quiet time to just sit, relax and spend time on something I can actually control to some extent, lol, unlike the real world.

I used to have a friend in real life who would ruin my town everytime she came over. She never wanted to wifi in her own town, only mine. And when she'd come over all my flowers would just go missing and she'd blame it on my villagers. She literally would tell me to my face that she saw my villagers picking up my hybrids, which isn't even possible. And she would just run everywhere and take anything she wanted. Of course, she once again blamed the animals. Needless to say, we aren't friends anymore and I would never let her into my New Leaf town.

Not really an unwanted guest or a scammer, but one thing I really dislike is when someone makes a trade or connection difficult for you, and then they just give up/automatically give a bad rating. I love to hold giveaways, and I've only ever had one bad connection with someone. I had managed to get prizes out to everyone except for one person. This person was supposed to get a silver slingshot from me, and we added each other, and everything seemed fine until we actually tried to connect. Their time zone was different from mine, so I'd often stay up late at night waiting for the "ok" for me to go to their town, and even opened my gate a few times. Every time I sat around for over an hour waiting, nothing. No messages either. Then I'd get messages asking why I didn't show. I apologized many times, and we rescheduled repeatedly, but in the end this person gave upon me and just a bad wifi rating. They said I failed to show up every time, and they never responded to my last message, begging them to let me fix this. I know one bad rating shouldn't matter, but it matters to others, and some people may not even bother with me if I don't have a 100%. Ok, I finally ranted. I've only had that inside me for AGES. xc

I have a guest town that I leave open for visitors to drop by for fishing/bug hunting. It's set in a different season.
One night I left free stuff at the train station and different types of perfect fruit for a visitors to take home.
While playing my other town I saw someone arrive. Checked later and they took a lot of perfect fruit home leaving little for other visitors. It was disappointing.

Another time I hosted a Turnip retail day in my new perfect fruit town. The message board said no shaking trees.
Someone arrived while I was on the phone and hit my player with an axe. Than they went out of sight. I thought it was for selling turnips. No the person was shaking the perfect trees and running into the train station. Asked them to stop and give back the fruit. After they left I found dead trees and half of my newly planted perfect fruit tree cleared/

Both people got deleted.
