Apparently, if you haven't heard, some modder on reddit found sound files to the characters Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy and Ryu in the new Smash update. We all know Mewtwo and Lucas are in the game, but Roy and Ryu are truly surprising.

Roy's victory theme is the Fire Emblem theme, hinting that this Roy is the same Roy from melee.
Ryu's victory theme is a direct rip of his theme from Super Street Fighter II.

Another hacker collective group confirmed that everything shinyquagsire23 is saying is true. All signs point to Roy and Ryu being the next DLC characters to be announced by Nintendo.

Interestingly enough, the modder also discovered sound files for two new Kirby songs and a SSF2 song file, hinting to possible new stages.

What are your opinions? I'd be happy to have Ryu join the roster, as I feel he is a very important character to video game history, and his moves are already made for him. It will be interesting to see how Sakurai adds his own special twist to his moveset. I'd also love to see Chun-Li somewhere in the game, at least as an assist trophy.

As for Roy, I'm a bit confused as he is basically a Marth clone and we already have Lucina. If Roy is added, hopefully his moveset is changed from his Melee appearance, as it be redundant to have 3 different Marths.

edit: now that I think of it I don't mind Ryu I guess, BUT NO MORE FIRE EMBLEM ENOUGHHHH, Its probably because of codename steam

No more Fire Emblem characters. Please. I liked him in Melee, but there are already too many FE characters in this Smash.

I'm indifferent about Ryu.
 
because having 4 characters from not even a well known franchise totally makes sense


especially when 3 of those characters will have the same movesets

I hope that these "leaks" aren't real, not unless they give Roy a completely new moveset

Fire Emblem's pretty popular in Japan, I hear, but I do agree. Also, pics or it didn't happen. Remember the last time someone did this and everyone went nuts because they saw Protoman was in the files, and now he's a Mii Fighter costume?

And preeeeeetty funny they only find these files now, like right after Mewtwo and Lucas were confirmed so there could be a bit of truth in this supposed 'leak'.

At the very least, the files are confirmed.

Beyond that, its just educated guessing.



Though it is worth noting, that from what I remember, Roy's been pretty well requested to return. So since we've already got Mewtwo and Lucas back (which I know Mewtwo was highly requested, and I imagine Lucas was as well), having Roy come back wouldn't be all that surprising at this point. Just kinda dumb, but imo Lucas is pretty dumb too. Though, going off the reveal trailer, he seems to of gotten some changes to make him at the very least a Dr. Mario level clone. As opposed to a Dark Pit level clone.

I mean I want pics of the actual fighters, silly. But considering that fake Rayman leak, they could easily be fabricated.

Also, LambdaDelta, Lucas is nowhere NEAR Dr. Mario levels of a clone and calling him such is an insult. Besides his specials, he's completely different from Ness and even their specials at least work differently. They have different animations, different grabs and even different effects on their standard attacks. If anything, Lucas is the least offensive clone in the game, a semi-one at that.

I kinda wonder if the developers are even that far yet. It wouldn't surprise me if they tossed these files in to stir buzz before the reveal at a later date, since surely by now they know that people dig deep into these update files.

...That Dr. Mario is the exact same thing as Mario, just stronger and slower. His animations are exactly the same, except maybe one or two attacks and maybe a slight, and I mean, slight change in damage output. That's a full-on clone.

Also, animations are pure visual filler. They mean nothing for gameplay mechanics. Come back when you know what you're talking about.

If roy were actually confirmed to come back then I would be extremely unimpressed w/ the ballot lol

Seriously though, how many other people questioned the developer's ability to think when they kept introducing clones as separate playable characters?

When I first saw Alph has an alt costume for Olimar I thought they would have applied this to other characters *cough dr mario, lucina, dark pit, and even other characters that could have been in the game*

typical nintendo
