Has anyone else returned to New Horizons by starting a new island on the switch 2 (or on their old switch)? I know there is already a thread asking if you will -- but those who have what has your experience been like?

It is so surreal to play the beginning of the game again! Livin' in a tent, surrounding Blathers' with fish and bugs, wondering what lies over the river and up the cliffs! It's such fun :) And it's such fun to be starting it with all of the updates in place, instead of how it was in 2020. It'll be interesting to see how all of it plays out!

I've been playing a lot of New Leaf lately, so jumping back into New Horizons feels very similar to how it did in 2020. I adore, adore, New Leaf -- but New Horizons is wonderful too. There are pros and cons to both games, and if you play New Horizons slowly, it still feels like an Animal Crossing game to me, just as New Leaf does.

also -- I have a yellow airport. It's the little things in life. And a yellow airport is one of those little things :)

So -- what has your experience been? What are your thoughts? What did you name your new island? Who are your starter villagers? All the things!

I thought about starting a new island on the switch 2, but I remembered that I wouldn't have access to the pocket camp stuff, and those are some of my favorite items. So I just transferred my island over. I might do a restart on my switch 1 though.

Oh! I hadn't thought about that! I love most of those items too. I wonder why they wouldn't implement them into pocket camp complete somehow? I might need to raid my nephew's old island for them later on 😅

Can you friend yourselves on the switch and send the items via mail maybe? I forget if that's doable haha.

Ooh that is a good question! I'm kind of afraid to try haha! I've sent things to a friend who then sent it to my new island, but that proves to be rather clunky.

I was a crazy New Leaf fan! So into it! When NH came out I was terribly disappointed and could not get into it. No gyroids, no Brewsters, crafting (grrrrr), your tools breaking all the time, but also, the villagers dialog was so bland :( The final straw was seeing what they did to Chief's house, my favorite villager that I had in my towns since WW. So I stopped playing, and only got back to it in 2024. I missed the 2.0 upgrade that brought many of the missing features!!! Never saw any announcements about it! I wasted 2 years of not playing an AC game, not visiting this forum, and this time I was able to get into it.

I'm playing very slowly, and I have only this past 2 weeks traded for recipes and items I'm missing to decorate my island.

Now I didn't know there were pocket camp items, off to do a google search.....
