I'd be surprised if you didn't get banned for saying it. I swear I got 4 infractions for mentioning it. You can say you're cis and hetero on the site but if you say you're trans and/or gay/bi... then good luck
I didn't. I don't think I even got punished for it beyond being told not to discuss it, but it was 10/11 years ago, the site might have changed.
I HATE that attitude, though. It is terrible. LGBT people are children at one point, too. And sometimes we know, or have hints at early ages, but can't even begin to decipher them because we live in a society which deems such matters "inappropriate" for children. It's disgusting.
In this matter, I do firmly believe that the deeming of it as "inappropriate" is
not to 'protect' the children. It is to maintain a society which keeps ignorance (which leads to hatred, of course) toward LGBT issues and people at as high of a level as possible. It probably also is to keep us confused as long as possible, because you know... Being LGBT is something that's done on a whim, and if we're left confused and unaccepted, we'll simply go back to being normal. >.> (Yeah, right... Absolutely ridiculous, I know... But people DO believe that, and at the very least they are holding LGBT children back from realizing what they might be, thus 'minimizing' the LGBT community).
Oops, sorry for that long rant... It's just something that drives me insane, and I don't see any hint of it changing. Meanwhile the mainstream society will think that LGBT people will have 'won' when same-sex marriage is legalized, yet nothing else has changed. I guarantee it.
