Questions for NEW HORIZONS ACNH animal crossing ***Questions about the Dream world specifically

Hi ok I am so excited for this update, just had some questions! Mostly about dream world stuff

It’s established you

1. have 3 dream “islands”
2. Sizes of dream islands vary (small medium large)
3. Everything in the dream is customizable like the real island
4. You can build landscape changes and have your villagers there
5. You can invite friends
6. It’s separate from your own home island but still exists inside it (which on its own I think is pretty awesome)

These questions arise, though:

1. can you name your dream islands? Or is it named / connected to your main island? [[For example, my second island is called Death City and it is a Soul Eater themed island. in the dream, can i name island 1 "Hogwarts" island 2 "Gotham" island 3 "Ghibli" as a random example, or is it just all named my actual island, Death City and cannot be edited?]]
2. There are only 3 dream islands. but there are multiple accounts on the switch. if i log into my main account, and then log into the second account, is it a fresh start? or is it when the Resident Rep makes a dream space (1, 2, and 3 dream islands), all of that data is connected to the other residents? [[so let's say Soul, my resident rep, makes 3 new dream spaces with Luna. will Maka, Kid, or Blackstar which are other residents/players, be able to see that dream space— or can they make completely new separate ones again?]] [[also, can players who aren’t resident rep travel between? Like if it is separate, vs. all the same on each account… if in the event it IS separate can they join resident rep in the dream they having or is it only for friends on separate switches? In order for other players besides the resident rep to visit the same dream there would have to be some sort of connection thing to have that work….]]
3. I'm assuming if i own 2 switch consoles, for example— the dream island data is new. i'm assuming i can visit via something like the airport?, as that was explained in the trailer, though not much details was released as its just a preview currently
4. In the trailer it mentioned there were 3 sizes of islands, small, medium & large. Can you change the size of the island once you make it? [[For example, let’s say my resident rep Soul makes a dream island, and if you can name it like I am guessing, names it Hogwarts: and plays for a while in the dream island Hogwarts, and then realizes; “wait. This would be so much better if this island was medium sized”, for example. Could the player change it or edit it after creation? Or it is like New Leaf and when you pick an island size, that’s the one you get or you’ll have to erase it and start fresh? Not sure what it is, but I guess we’ll have to find out.]]

Whew! Sorry this is somewhat complicated and I have so many questions. If I think of more questions I’ll add them.

Also, I heard some people were actually complaining about the update. I don’t think it was on here. I searched google for some questions and I found a Reddit thread where a guy was complaining about the update. (I don’t use Reddit for the record lol I just saw it)


I’m a little confused by that. I mean, this is a FREE update full of features.

I guess the only last minor question I have is about the switch 2. Specifically for the mic and graphics and joy con improvements. Does that apply to switch 1? I know they said all features are available for all players regardless you just need to update or purchase a small fee for a pack if you WANT it is not required, but if the switch 2 hardware is different than regular old switch 1, the graphics thing and mic thing / joy con thing may not be applicable from a hardware / design standpoint. Idk for sure.

Though I do believe the megaphone is a GREAT update feature (to be brutally honest they should have had it since the beginning lol, New Leaf was so much easier w that lol)….and I’m assuming switch 1 and switch lite has a microphone somewhere anyway so you can still use that. Awesome! (I hope I’m not wrong about that! Not sure if I can afford a switch 2 just for a microphone update lol)


Again not sure why people are complaining about this. I think Nintendo and animal crossing devs/crew are actually being amazing and generous since they didn’t actually say they would ever update again. They left with the promise the previous update was the LAST update, and then they treated us to this awesome free update. Not sure why that would be a bad thing.

Guy on the Reddit thing, again I don’t use Reddit haha…seemed to be upset that it was “expensive” if I remember correctly and I just find that weird, it’s a free update. It isn’t terribly expensive anyway even since 90% of it is practically free. He sounded kind of like a whiny kid that I used to know, who was pretty invested in complaining. Yes I knew someone very, VERY much like that…. Sigh. Not saying any more than that. Anyway I digress. I like this update. I’m excited!!!! 6(5? Sorry my math and mind is not working ATM lol) days left??? Bruh I am SO hyped. you wouldn’t believe it!!!! AAAAAAA ok sorry.

(Also what do you think about the complaining thing? I don’t know, but I think it’s silly. If you have some complaints that is fine, everyone does sometimes, but I think overall it’s good to be happy…) ^ - ^

Speculations welcome! Of course we don’t know the answers yet, but maybe some ideas are accurate! Curious to hear!

No some of the updates are separated from the switch 1 and two. Switch 2 has the microphone ans the Joy stick mouse control. There's similarities but switch 2 is bigger and have more things than switch 1.


It's free if you have the physical game which I do for the switch lite that I own. I haven't play the game on my switch 2 due to trying to beat Pokémon z -a

No, that stuff won’t be coming to switch 1. I don’t think it has a microphone.

Everything else is free but (as far as I know) you need Nintendo Switch Online to access slumber islands.
So I think you’ll only be able to access it on player accounts that have NSO, so if your residents aren’t linked to Nintendo accounts with NSO, I don’t think they’ll be able to access slumber islands at all. I’m not sure if separate players get their own set of 3 islands if on NSO - I’m going to assume yes? but that’s a complete guess / hope lol.

You can visit other slumber islands somehow, I don’t think they’ve revealed how it works, but the owner of the slumber island has to be online for you to visit it

Ok Interesting! Thanks for the responses! Still curious about the naming the dream island thing as the trailer didn’t seem to mention anything about that, but I guess we’ll have to find out! : )
Oh and that’s really helpful, I didn’t know you needed Nintendo switch online! I guess that’s ok I already kinda have it, but that’s a good piece of information, so thanks!

You can name them! While you’re in the slumber island, speak to Luna and she gives you the option to name the island
