Question regarding TT'ing

If I was to TT a long time ahead, would villagers just leave in the time I was "absent", or would they come and tell me they ar leaving then I next see them after TT'ing?
So basically, would i be able to stop them leaving when TT, or would there be nothing I can do?

FYI, I am using I, but I wouldn't TT really far, it's actually a friend that wants to know, but she doesn't have an account here.

If you time travel far ahead there is a chance that villagers can move out without telling you. Depending on how far ahead you're talking, it gets to be more of a certainty that one or more villagers will move.
