Question regarding 'beginner' villager houses

The first villagers that you invite to your town (the two you begin with and any that you encounter on islands before the campsite is built) will all have very basic houses and wallpapers/flooring, and the only way to fix the interior is to gift them things but generally there isnt much you can do to fix the look. If someone comes to your island and asks a villager in one of these generic houses to move to their island, will the villager have an upgraded, individualized house on their island or will they retain the same exterior and interior, assuming they have the campsite as well? I'm pretty sure in other games, NL at least, the villager kept the same interior if it was altered in any way but the way houses are developed in NH are a bit different so I wasnt sure, ;w;

It definitely updates. I invited an Uchi villager from someone’s island and they had the basic brown wallpaper/flooring which meant it was one of their starter villagers. Once she moved into my island though she had her proper default wallpaper/flooring and furniture.

I echo what everyone else said, with the addition that if you’re planning on giving them to someone temporarily to fix their house and then adopting them back you might like to know they will remember you when they come back! I did this with Reneigh and she was like “hey, it’s you, starlight, what have you been up to?!” and when I invited her she said “ha! you REALLY wanna put up with me again?” and still had the sweater I gave her before she moved!

That's so cute omg....I was hoping to upgrade for one and to find good homes for the rest of them that I can bear to part with for dreamies :') I was worried that since they were in basic houses no one would want them, but it's good to hear they will upgrade so hopefully someone that really wants them will get them !!

as you can see she has her actual wall & flooring as opposed to starter ones--and though i don't have screenshots to show these things, when she came back to my island she had all of her real furniture and she started wearing the space parka i'd given her before. it was almost like she'd never really left but had simply taken a vacation and bought some new furniture on her trip!
