Question: can you plant mushrooms you got from other people on your island?

I know it’s a stupid question, but I couldn’t find anything on google and I need some mushrooms on my island for the hidden away forest theme ;-;

i don't think there's any difference between dropping and "planting" the mushrooms in this case, cos they won't grow if you bury them. if you pick them up and drop them on your island or give them away the appearance is the same. the only one that has to be dug up is the rare mushroom (referencing a truffle irl) but it doesn't grow anyway.

you can bring mushroom to your island and drop them and it'll look like they sprouted; there's no visual difference, so i believe it'll work well for your theme

It will look like a normal mushroom on the ground but as said above, other players are able to “pick” the mushroom. So it’s really down to how trustworthy people are!

While on the subject of things lying on the ground, does anybody know if branches, stones, clay, iron, and gold nugget affect the islands rating system?

ah yes! i got what you meant now, you're right. i believe that's the same for the mushrooms that grow during fall, so yeah, people could pick it up using the diys, as mentioned above, might be a good idea! i like how they give off a ~fairy vibe - since they're large items, you could pretend your villagers are tiny people in a forest lol i think it's cute

Thanks you guys! I only trade on here and I believe no one will pick them up, only if it’s an rotten apple though. Now it’s just time to purchase some mushrooms if I can find any!

I've heard that branches and shells do not count bc they appear on the ground on their own, but gold, clay, fruit, and iron would count since you are hitting the rock or shaking the tree to get the item on the ground.

Then I suspect a stone on the ground works the same as branches and shells since they can randomly spawn. Thanks for letting me know. I've been wondering for quite sometime.

It is a shame you can’t actually plant the mushrooms to make them untouchable by other players. Like the flowers are now.

I guess mushroom furniture it is, then. Kinda wish they were plantable like flowers; Weeds sort of are but I think other players can pick those up too.
