question about villager trading

i tried posting this in the villager section but it wouldnt allow me to do that without first choosing a prefix, and mine didnt qualify. sooo im posting this here:

ive just gotten cole to say that he will move out, but i do not have 10 villagers in my town *nor do i want them*. i do want to get coco or eugene to move into cole spot *hes not in boxes yet* however im wondering if you Have to have the ten villagers in order to get a traded one to move in? or will my 9 villagers be ok to do this?

you can adopt a villager from a different town even if you don't have ten villagers. As long as there is a plot available with no name on it and you have a working internet connection (or a friend who you can visit locally) you can go ahead and adopt a villager from someone else.

thank you! i even called nintendo to ask them about this *and other things lol* and they didnt know the answer!

No problem! and please remember that you can't adopt a villager on the day Cole is moving out, you have to wait (or time travel) until the next day when the plot of land is empty.
