Question about time control (not time travel)

I like a little bit of control in my game in case I want to make up a missed day, or want to play in daylight, not night time. My Switch arrives tomorrow, and I want to begin the game at "March 20" so I can enjoy the spring season. I've learned that it's necessary to sync the clock to the internet in order to trigger an event update, such as Bunny Day.

If I begin my game at "March 20", will I automatically get the Bunny Day update since April 1 has passed? Or do I need to watch to sync on my game's "April 1"? It sounds tricky to be checking for events and updates in the near future. For those who are playing with time, what has been your experience with this?

I believe once you reach april 1, you should have access to the bunny day and cherry blossom items, until the end of those events. 12th for bunny day and I believe it was the 10th for cherry blossom items. This is assuming you are playing in the northern hemisphere of course!

You can't jump ahead with events - the developers only release the update to sync with real time. However, if your in-game calendar is behind, the events will still occur so long as you have the latest version of the game.

I borrowed my brother's Switch for 3 weeks and he was ever-patient with me as I hogged his device... so I got my own Switch Lite on April 3rd and then booted the clock back to March 20th. Can confirm that it is based off of the clock/time on your Switch device, so if you want to experience all the events and such, you will as long as they correlate with the correct date! :D

So if my in-game calendar is behind, will I still need to sync the clock on my game's April 1? Or will that update have already occurred?

The update isn't connected to the in-game clock, they are connected to your Switch being connected to the internet. No matter what day it is in-game, you will get updates as updates are released real-time as long as you have internet.

The update trigger thing was put in place to stop us from triggering the event before April 1. You should be okay since we've all had the event naturally now.

So to clarify, does that mean I will not have to turn back on “Synchronize Clock via Internet?" Because it seems that doing that will make me mess up my game time.

Does "as long as you have internet" specifically refer to the “Synchronize Clock via Internet" setting?

Many thanks to all of you helping me grasp this.
