Question About Second Towns

I'm interested in making a second town, but wanted to know if making a "New Save File" when I already have a town will overwrite the data for my current town?

Jesus, I restarted my first town within a week of making it, and I felt absolutely awful that Isabelle was so sad. That's why when I wanted to restart, I just got another game. XD

I want to make another town, not because I don't like the one I have now, but just because I want something different. You know, new villagers, a different map, etc. I'd considered just restarting my game but I really don't want to get rid of the town I have now. I think what I'm going to do though is finish doing things in this town (fully upgrade my house and stuff like that) then maybe by that time I'll have some money to buy another game.
