Question about amiibo villagers

When an amiibo villager replaces another amiibo villager, will the new villager build their house in the exact same spot as the old villager, or does this vary?

Nope. It's completely random.

You can control where they move to an extent with paths and make some areas with opened space large enough to fit the villager's house. They will plot in the same spot as the move out a lot of the times. But it's not a given. If you want them in the same spot or somewhere else, I'd try to plot reset unless it's not that big of a matter to you.

No, its randomized. Its most annoying when they move in an area with flowers or plants lol

From my experience though all of my amiibo scans always seemed to plot where I kicked out one of the villagers (when I scanned and was prompted to kick one of them) However, there were times when they also didn't do this and moved somewhere else.

From my experience they tend to do it, probably because there is some free space there. I'm sure though if they had plenty of options it would be random

From only having amiibo's I can tell you they prefer the spot of the villager you kicked out for them, but not always.
