So today I was a little confused as to why I lost my perfect town status and then I realized it's because my lighthouse had apparently decided to internally combust!

I'm the only one who uses this DS, the only one who would ever even have access to it and my lighthouse has just ceased to exist.

I assume it's a bug, filbert moved out from just to the right of the spot I built it on, that's the only correlation I can think of.

Building another one isn't a problem, but it's a little gamebreaking to think that some of the hugest investments in the game can just go up in smoke like that.

Anyone else had this problem?

I haven't had this problem, because I don't invest very much into PWPs (lazy me... xP), but I do find this interesting...

Hmmm, that is interesting. No idea why or how that happened, though.

That's really, really weird. Yeah, I think it's safe to say there's some buggy-ness afoot. This is the first time I've heard of it, though.

It was a little annoying as I was 7 days in to perfect town, ah well. Things happen for a reason, eh?

Just wish I knew what triggered it to happen..

That bench is rather close to where the lighthouse was.

Maybe it wanted the spotlight and destroyed it.

That dirt patch to the upper right of the picture, a tiny bit further along..I have a lot of dirt patches in my town.. ;_;

Hm, if you say Filbert moved out from near that spot before - could it be that with the lighthouse, you had less than 10 possible spots for villager houses?

(My theory is that there are several, maybe 12-15, possible spots for villagers in each town, some of which can be conveniently "blocked" by PWPs so after a while, all the house positions are fix and you wouldn't need to worry about a new house destroying paths or whatever.)

However, I always thought that in that case, Isabelle wouldn't allow to build a project there in the first place.

Oh, then it definitely wouldn't have been him. A little too far away.

Were there any trees or flowers that were removed 2-3 blocks away? Maybe something that overlapped spaces with it caused it to disappear, like a flower wilting.

It'd be highly unlikely to be a house location, because it's literally right on the edge of a cliff. There's also another one really close by, making it even less likely.

Oh, and on top of that, if a villager has recently moved out, the next villager to move in will almost always move into that exact location. So unless a camper moved there awhile back and nobody claimed it from then on, it wouldn't have deleted things to make room for a house.

...Besides, why would the game suddenly choose to delete stuff in a house location when nobody's moving in there (No fences or anything yet)? It's also been there for 7 days, making it even less likely that it'd have been removed for a villager house location.

Hmm..I think I had 9 villagers moved in when I built it, that went up to 10 with Shep, then back down to 9 when Filbert left.

EDIT:

Come to think of it there was a flower nearby which isn't there now 2 spaces to the right of where the lighthouse was, think that's something to do with it?

It probably was the flower; most PWPs require the space they're going to take up, plus 2 blocks on every side. So maybe, for any reason, the flower wilting/getting picked's code glitched out and did the same thing to the lighthouse?

That's a really interesting point, I think i'll avoid planting flowers around PWP in future. xD

xD There's no guarantee it was the flower... But now I'm definitely going to test that with a bench. Plant a few flowers, wait until they start to wilt, and prevent villagers from watering them. Then see if the bench poofs when the flowers do.

That's interesting o_o Pretty strange it just...poofed!
*removes all flowers away from my lamps and fountains*

I haven't encountered any bugs yet.

Good thing, too, because my mind would go "Abuse iiiiiiiiit!"

While a house location at the cliff might be unlikely (although I do have some very tightly crammed villager houses right at a cliff in my second town - if you would like to see that, I can upload a screenshot), the lighthouse position could still be overlapping with a possible house location (the one where Filbert had been living before).

Maybe it wanted to move a villager in that day and found that this wasn't possible with the lighthouse.

But hey, it was just a thought, was just trying to help. I'm not here to attack. Peace :)

As for the flower theory, that's interesting. I have the Beautiful Town, so no wilting flowers. Wouldn't such a huge glitch (wilting flowers causing PWP to disappear) have been long discovered by now, though?

If you think about it, no. Most people establish their paths and stuff be- omg, I just saw Butch's head pop off, then he disappeared, and then he started walking across my screen again x.x -before they really play around with public works projects. So flowers are generally already put in the places they need be, and most people choose not to surround benches with flowers and stuff.

Then, as for the people that do, they water them daily. (Or their villagers do.)
