PWP frustration

Ive been playing my animal crossing new leaf game since 2013, never reset my town and ive realised i hardly ever get requests for Public Works Projects and when i do. its the complete opposite to the items i want in my town.

Ive been trying and trying for years to get the old style streetlamp



And also the Bus Stop



Is it really just based on luck? I have the right personalities villagers but they just never offer me the PWP's to build the ones i want in my town.

Yeah, unfortunately it's all luck based You could try the swimming/diving trick if you have the patience for it! If you don't know what that is just google it! There are a ton of guides for it

What worked for me, I wanted the modern bench so I added several available benches until a snooty villager requested the modern bench.

The uchi villager suggests the bus stop and the street lamp you want is requested by snooty villagers.

Trap them! Do the diving trick but make sure you have the right personalities TRAPPED where you can get to before someone else pings you. You can dig holes around them and have them right by the ramp so you can get pinged.

Yep, you can try the diving trick. That would probably be your best bet.

I agree with this, the diving trick is quite useful and even though it's kinda cruel, trapping the villagers can help you get the desired PWP much faster. I personally just let the requests come in at their own pace and I've almost got them all, except for a select few which is unfortunate because I actually want those few lol! (I'm needing the bus stop as well, and the wooden bridge!)

Right after the update I got about 6 PWP projects in the first week so I had hopped that they had changed how PWP worked. Unfortunately I have not received any since, so apparently I just got lucky for a little bit.

I agree that it is a frustrating part of the game. Wish they would choose a different mechanic, there are still plenty that work in the theme of the randomness/difficult to get (i.e. Only if you give a certain villager a specific type of furniture on a specific time of day, that they would give you an increase chance that the villager would ping with X PWP project)

For me, trapping didn't work . They never pinged me after until Francine offered a modern bench which was a good surprise.

I have no luck with them unfortunately so I'm not much help here. The diving trick has worked once or twice but it seems very iffy. I have heard that it helps to empty your pockets so villagers won't request to buy or trade your items
