Pokémon Pokémon Winds and Waves Discussion

A rumor I found interesting is that the new region is based on Indonesia. There’s a lot of potential for fun locations and Pokemon designs with an inspiration like that, but it were inspired by South America that’d be cool too.

I was mixed in Scarlet and Violet and never finished Legends Arceus. Legends Z-A didn’t interest me either. The fact that gamefreak is waiting until 2027 to release the game makes me somewhat optimistic it’ll be less rushed, but I’ll hesitate on buying them until I can tell they’ll be good games.

A female Pikachu???

I skipped out on gen 9. If they make a Switch 2 LITE, I *might* get Wind or Waves......*might* is the key word. To be honest, I haven't bought a Pokemon game since Pokemon Sword and i'm glad I didn't. So much disappointment. But since Pokemon is cooking til 2027, we *might* be surprised. You never know *shrugs*

Gen 10 starters huh? The water lizard sure is neat in my humble opinion.

Ehhhh visually it looks good but if it's true that they are using the same engine as before, I'm not too fond. Especially with how much they've beeen dropping the ball with mosy of the games recently. Yeah, it's good they're not rushing to release it but look how long ZA took only to be a disgusting cashgrab that's only purpose is grinding/collecting useless stuff.

I mean, I'll keep my eye out for anything new. Right now, the starters look weiirrrd but I love Pombon, so if I DO get it I guess I'll be choosing fire once again.

I've been tired of the amount of Pikachu cosplays but the colors and design on them look really great, ngl. Love the eyes on Wavychu too.

That's what i was getting too, and I'm just hoping its not. It's why I was hoping for a random typing for it's evolution.
We already have fire fighting chicken, the water fighting chicken. PLEASE NO MORE FIGHTING CHICKENS

that sounds fowl

anyways, some other misc thoughts:
- I like how it looks like we have an actual outfit this time. hopefully means full customization is still a thing and not lapsed once more
- the backpack being super attached is interesting. I wonder if this implies more intense activities during our journey across the region
- on the assumption they build off of the open world concept of scarlet and violet, I hope they make this region easier to tell where you are and where to go without having to constantly rely on the map. since that game had a serious problem of too many non-distinct areas across paldea, imo
- bets on if the dog becomes bipedal

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the games in trailers over the course of this and next year. The games themselves looks nice visually, hopefully they run better than Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet do.

The starters kind of feel like a letdown compared to their predecessors Spigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. I've seen opinion around a few Discord groups I'm in, as well as a few posts here, that these designs lack a certain Pokémon vibe to them and that they sort of feel more like fake or fanmade designs. Gotta say I kind of agree, though Pombon does have that sort of definitively Pokémon design to it at least to me. Interested to see what they evolve into.

If I get the games, which is probable since I enjoyed Pokémon Legends Z-A and even Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet despite their gameplay issues (particularly the annoying lag in online multiplayer raids), I'll likely choose Browt in one game and Pombon in the other. Grass is my favorite type and birds are my favorite animals, so Browt is definitely getting picked even if its first form isn't all that great for me. I say Pombon is likely for the other game but admittedly it probably depends on what all the starters final evolutions end up being. I could see choosing Gecqua in the second game if its evolutions are more appealing than Pombon's. Either way, I'd trade to get the third, unselected starter for Pokédex purposes anyhow, so all three will eventually get use in some shape or form.

Fingers crossed, knock on wood, hopefully the games are good.

I'm excited to see what the legendaries are going to look like - that always influences which game I buy (except for when I bought my Switch secondhand and it came with Pokemon Sword - that kind of made the decision for me, I actually think I would have picked Shield otherwise).
Pombon in particular is very cute (I guess they did a cat starter last time so they were due for a dog), but I have been choosing grass starters since my first game and therefore I'm locked into Browt. Who is still cute. Just not a puppy. And I mean, if Pombon becomes bipedal, I'll feel much less FOMO, haha.

I already love the vibes of this entry, speaks to me more than the urban vibes of the previously one. And despite the complaints about the starters, i think they are adorable! I would love all 3, but especially Gecqua ! It would be cool if this is based on indonesia, i have family there and been there a lot so that would be an amazing inspiration to draw from, and then the gecko reference would make a lot of sense too :p
