What did everyone think of the new megas that were shown today? I like them.
Another reason why I'm not getting the game. Its not like it was in the past. I'm so sick of it all.Locking the Mega evos of the Kalos starters behind online is such a stupid idea.
They did the same thing with New Horizon and it's sad. So much of the game was locked behind a paywall. Fruits, different color variations of things, ect. It's really sad they're going this greedy approach.Locking the Mega evos of the Kalos starters behind online is such a stupid idea.
Regardless, all three Kalos starters look amazing, and Raichu's megas felt forced to make it look like an X & Y.
Quoting myself here because I wanted to remember how I initially felt about PLZA. I was genuinely excited for the game, but now my opinion about it has changed a lot. I'm no longer interested in it. Announcing paid DLC before the game even comes out was such a bold move. By withholding a portion of the game just to sell it back to you for $30, you are pretty much purchasing a $100 game. My disinterest in PLZA began before the DLC announcement, though, but this just adds to it. Enjoying Pokémon sure is expensive these daysOkay yes, I'll take this over a Unova remake any day. It's about time we head back to Kalos, one way or another. Not what we were expecting at all, THAT'S for sure lol I always said GameFreak should give it some attention again, and here it is at last, thehopefully not suckyredemptionit actually would be extremely interesting if it takes place during the war. Would love Pokémon to take a darker Cacturne for the better, we need high stakes. We need to be a part of the action, unlike SwSh. RBY had the player more involved in stuff and that's really saying something lol
X/Y weren't necessarily bad games, it's just that imo they was pretty forgettable, aside from the debut of Mega Evolution. Lame rivals, lame villains, lame plot, lame champion, awful Gym Leader battle theme (my least favorite in the series) and overall too easy, and that's without even using Exp. Share.
My favorite things about X/Y were being able to roller skate (I guess it was their way of testing a non-grid movement style, one we would see return in ORAS and subsequent games) and the Gen 6 Pokémon themselves. Some designs are outstanding, but was extremely disappointed by how many were introduced, lowest ever at 72 new mons compared to Gen 5, which introduced a staggering 156 unique creatures not related to any previous Pokémon in terms of evolution. Gen 3 was actually really close to being the first games to do that, had it not been for Azurill and Wynaut lol
The ost itself does have some tracks I really enjoy, such as Route 2 & 3, Parfum Palace, Santalune Forest and Laverre City, and some other ones, too. And some of the overworld environments were really stunning to see at the time. Flabébé and its evolutions, Dedenne and Xerneas are my favorite Gen 6 Fairy types, and I'm one of the few people who really digs Diggersby lol
But yeah, I only ever finished one playthrough of my copy of X before selling it because I was just so underwhelmed by it. It's only in recent times I found myself wanting to revisit Kalos, give it another chance, rediscover places. Unless the game only takes place in Lumiose City as its main hub, then uh-oh.....
I had immense fun with PLA's gameplay style so this should be a treat. But I won't go in with too high expectations. After all, it's a Pokémon game of the modern era and we all know how THOSE have been so amazing lately xD
You could run from Trainer battles in SV. You get penalized for it by being sent to a Pokémon Center. It’s something not too many people know is possible in those games.Yeah, it's like I figured. The game is not all that great. No surprise there, though.
I'm glad my eyes opened up during Gen 7. I played Pokémon Sun and loved it, but when Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon turned out not to be sequels like Black 2/White 2, and instead they just butcher the original story of Sun and Moon, I ended up skipping USUM because I was so disappointed.
That was the very first time I skipped a mainline game. Then I skipped SwSh because of Dexit and other reasons. I skipped Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, too. I gave ScarVio a chance and only really had fun when I kept my Pokémon unevolved for an actual challenge.
The more of Legends ZA they showed off, the more I knew I wouldn't like it. And now that I've watched gameplay.... Just wow. It really DOES take place strictly in the city. Going from rooftop to rooftop doesn't look as much fun as, say, riding on top of a Wyrdeer climbing up mountainous terrain and running across the wide-open grasslands.
PLZA is just a glorified Safari Zone, unlike Legends Arceus where the Pokémon live freely in the wilderness, untouched by man.
The wild Pokémon in PLZA can't even faint so there's zero strategy in fighting and catching them. Just hit them with one powerful move, drain their health to zero, and throw your ball.
Speaking of balls, there's no consequence if you miss your throws and end up wasting Poké Balls. There are people who scavenge the balls you miss and give them back to you.
And best of all, for the first time in mainline history, you can run from Trainer battlesmake the game even easier and risk-free, why don't cha
Personally, I think it's the new Megas that cost $70, not the gameplay or quality or story. And if you want more Megas to add to your collection, cough up an extra $30 plus $20 for online battles so you can get colorful little marbles that let Greninja, Delphox and Chesnaught go wheeeeeeee!!
I never knew it was possible in SV to run from Trainer battlesI’ve been playing for awhile now and have just defeated the Rogue Mega Absol.

I learned that fact from YouTube. Haven’t tried it yet but apparently if you do run from a Trainer battle, it’s treated as if you quit during an online match and counts as a loss.I never knew it was possible in SV to run from Trainer battlesI'm one of those people, haha. Since it's always been an established rule you can't run from Trainer battles, I never thought to try it in SV just because it's a learned behavior that the Run option does nothing in Trainer battles lol
But wow, that's interesting to know they changed the rules. I guess going forward that might be the norm.
Incoming yet another rant lol I'm just really upset and frustrated yeah lol
Okay, so........
Legends Arceus is the only Legends game. ZA is not a Legends game. I'm sad and mad we were not given a proper Legends game. "Legends" on the title of ZA is literally just bait. It's a total lie.
I was excited, too, because Arceus introduced such a fresh new idea for what a Pokémon game could be. I had hoped we could ride around the Kalos wilderness on the back of a Gogoat, but instead you get a phone that saves you from fall damage. Boring....
Why a phone again?? We had that in SV already, and I'm aware of the Arc Phone in Arceus, yes, but at least in that game it's less intrusive and not nearly as annoying. It's also given to you by God, the big guy himself lol
Naturally, I didn't buy ZA. I had hoped to explore actual forests and snowy mountains and swamps and canyons and oceans..... But instead we get wild Pokémon essentially trapped within a city. Cars and restaurants and copy-paste streets and windows and rooftops and NPCs that just....stand in one spot saying some real unhinged things.
Here's a personal gripe of mine: I actually don't like that you can sneak attack a Trainer's Pokémon. It's just really cheap. The AI isn't smart enough to sneak attack you so doing it to them is just straight up bullying yo. Even if they do, they're sneak attacking you with something baby like a Pidgey, so I'm sure that'll make all the difference in the world.
I refuse to believe the same people who worked on Arceus worked on ZA as well. It just isn't possible. It must have been two different teams.
I don't have an issue with the Megas. It's not the Megas that bother me about this game (well actually, there are several Megas that do bother me because of how poorly executed their designs are. I won't spoil anything just in case)
It's the story and gameplay itself that bothers me. Battles end too quickly because of the unbalanced cooldown/real time battle mechanics. Just spam all your attacks in the span of 5 seconds and you win no matter what.
You can pause the game in the middle of fighting and heal your guys for free a la BotW style. There's a cooldown for healing, yeah, but you're still pretty much invincible. Yet the other Trainers never bother to heal. You quite literally cannot lose. Yeah, you might lose a guy because of jank controls and lag but you still have 5 other guys left. Meanwhile the other Trainer has 2 guys left.
I just really feel like ranting, I'm sorry I keep repeating myself lol I just can't get over how disappointing this is. I love Pokémon, I've been with this franchise since '98, so to see it becoming utter trash now just really hurts. Imo it didn't start becoming trash until SwSh and the whole Dexit bs, also USUM were massive letdowns so I didn't get those either.
Yeah I'll most likely come back here to rant some more about ZA, lol but I might get over it by then so we'll see.
Edit: fixed some typos
