Pokémon Pokemon Legends Z-A General Discussion

What did everyone think of the new megas that were shown today? I like them.

Locking the Mega evos of the Kalos starters behind online is such a stupid idea.

Regardless, all three Kalos starters look amazing, and Raichu's megas felt forced to make it look like an X & Y.

Well I've decided not to get the game now for personal reasons but I do like Mega Malamar and the Mega Kalos starters. Mega Hawlucha looks cool but it looks more like an evolution to me. Mega Victreebel is just another silly Mega Slowbro-like mega. Mega Malamar looks like a proper Mega evo and I love its 🌈 Megamind theme. Chesnaught is cool with its spear. Delphox looks like a proper witch now. Surprisingly I like Greninja. Its not always upside down but the reasoning behind why it is seems fair. I hate both Raichus though. Both are pure Electric and its silly to theme their designs X & Y.

Locking the Mega evos of the Kalos starters behind online is such a stupid idea.
Another reason why I'm not getting the game. Its not like it was in the past. I'm so sick of it all.

They did the same thing with New Horizon and it's sad. So much of the game was locked behind a paywall. Fruits, different color variations of things, ect. It's really sad they're going this greedy approach.

I've played Arceus. I actually got it maybe 2 years ago? I played for a bit and then finally put it down and right now I'm picking it back up and about to finish the main story. Since Arceus is part of the Legends series like this one, there are a few things I wanted to add. I'm not a huge Pokemon fan and many would probably call me a fake one lol, but I didn't care for how unbalanced Arceus was.

The battles were really weird how some Pokemon/trainers could get 2-4 moves in one go, even if my Pokemon were way stronger and higher leveled. There were often times where there would be a battle that was 1-2 or 1-3 where they were getting 4-6+ moves per time. I don't remember feeling that way when I dropped it, but coming back it really soured my opinion of the game.

Also how completing the Pokedex worked was very grindy and not fun at all. So I didn't bother doing a lot of it.

I'm just saying I don't want to see these used in the next Legends game. I haven't bothered to look at the trailer or any spoilers, but since they are both Legend I'm assuming they're sharing mechanics and that would suck to have it unbalanced like Arceus was.

Okay yes, I'll take this over a Unova remake any day. It's about time we head back to Kalos, one way or another. Not what we were expecting at all, THAT'S for sure lol I always said GameFreak should give it some attention again, and here it is at last, the hopefully not sucky redemption 🖤💚🖤💚🖤 it actually would be extremely interesting if it takes place during the war. Would love Pokémon to take a darker Cacturne for the better, we need high stakes. We need to be a part of the action, unlike SwSh. RBY had the player more involved in stuff and that's really saying something lol

X/Y weren't necessarily bad games, it's just that imo they was pretty forgettable, aside from the debut of Mega Evolution. Lame rivals, lame villains, lame plot, lame champion, awful Gym Leader battle theme (my least favorite in the series) and overall too easy, and that's without even using Exp. Share.

My favorite things about X/Y were being able to roller skate (I guess it was their way of testing a non-grid movement style, one we would see return in ORAS and subsequent games) and the Gen 6 Pokémon themselves. Some designs are outstanding, but was extremely disappointed by how many were introduced, lowest ever at 72 new mons compared to Gen 5, which introduced a staggering 156 unique creatures not related to any previous Pokémon in terms of evolution. Gen 3 was actually really close to being the first games to do that, had it not been for Azurill and Wynaut lol

The ost itself does have some tracks I really enjoy, such as Route 2 & 3, Parfum Palace, Santalune Forest and Laverre City, and some other ones, too. And some of the overworld environments were really stunning to see at the time. Flabébé and its evolutions, Dedenne and Xerneas are my favorite Gen 6 Fairy types, and I'm one of the few people who really digs Diggersby lol 🐇💖

But yeah, I only ever finished one playthrough of my copy of X before selling it because I was just so underwhelmed by it. It's only in recent times I found myself wanting to revisit Kalos, give it another chance, rediscover places. Unless the game only takes place in Lumiose City as its main hub, then uh-oh..... 😬

I had immense fun with PLA's gameplay style so this should be a treat. But I won't go in with too high expectations. After all, it's a Pokémon game of the modern era and we all know how THOSE have been so amazing lately xD
Quoting myself here because I wanted to remember how I initially felt about PLZA. I was genuinely excited for the game, but now my opinion about it has changed a lot. I'm no longer interested in it. Announcing paid DLC before the game even comes out was such a bold move. By withholding a portion of the game just to sell it back to you for $30, you are pretty much purchasing a $100 game. My disinterest in PLZA began before the DLC announcement, though, but this just adds to it. Enjoying Pokémon sure is expensive these days 🤷‍♀️

And Dexit is STILL a thing, so if they want, they could sell future DLC which allows certain Pokémon in while still keeping other Pokémon out. They already got away with it in SwSh and ScarVio, so why not do it again.

One of my biggest concerns was PLZA taking place entirely in Lumiose City, and it seems that's the case. The player being stuck in only one place doesn't seem all that fun to me. It would have been fine imo if Lumiose City were just a hub world like Jubilife Village, a place where you can rest after exploring untouched wilderness teeming with life and nature (and danger, because the player can get mauled by wild Pokémon) but according to what they've shown, the game is just going to be small biomes here and there contained within the city itself, plus Hoopa's rings I guess.

I would have liked if we could revisit other towns and environments... But we'll find out for sure once the game is officially out.

I also really, really just can't get over the starter roster. Two Johto starters and a Tepig trying its best to fit in, lol I've said this already, but it's not the starters themselves I have a problem with. It's the lack of variety. The PLA starters gave us a little taste of different cultures from around the Pokémon world, at least that's the way I see it. Cyndaquil represented eastern Johto, Oshawott represented western Unova, and Rowlet represented tropical Alola.

Kalos, unfortunately, will remain nothing much to me. No revisit to Laverre City or its mushroomy aesthetic and pretty music is such a letdown....

This game has honestly left me speechless at the arrogance and greed of Gamefreak and Nintendo. It feels like a tipping point has been reached.

First off Gamefreak has only delivered unfinished games since XY. (I'm not going to count SM/USUM & Legends Arceus since I didn't finish them so I can't make a fair judgement about them.)

Now they are setting a game in one city (???), and charging over 100€ for the full experience?

I will definitely not buy this new. If I'm going to buy it at all, I'm buying used. Unless the DLC proves to be massive, I'm skipping it too. Not to mention that I haven't even bought a Switch 2 yet and looking at how games are priced it's looking like a console generation to skip like the WiiU. On the other hand I don't feel like buying the worse (SW1) version of the game either, so I guess I'll just skip it completely? 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's not even that I couldn't afford it. This level of greed and price gouging just disgusts me and I don't want to support it.

Just because some people are willing to drop hundreds of $€ on free to start games doesn't mean the the average consumer is happy to pay 100€ for a game!!
